Sports a great for this... pretty much any group activity that relies on teamwork. This can give you confidence and requires you to be very vocal with other people in order to get things done.

Hi you never k!!!

First; advise is think positive. Shyness is a lack of confidence in oneself. Look into what could be the source of your shyness and once you recognize it, then LET GO!!! Walk, speak, act and display yourself with confidence even though you feel shy.

Second; Always think that no one is better than anybody else. There for, you shouldn't feel inferior or less. Think positive!!

Third; Dare to do, go, speak, create new things, change the way you dress, buy colorful outfits, change your hair color(gradually, if you want a faster shocker, drastically), buy accessories, smile when walking taking long steps, make yourself approachable!!!

Throw a party, invite few friends, start small, and you'll see this friends will invite others, pretty soon you'll have to ignore your door bell.

If you see someone else is trying to still your spot light, ignore, and continue, as if you are in a rush to do something.
People are attracted to those that look busy always talk on the phone, make yourself important.

Pretty soon you will be for real. And when looking at yourself in the mirror, like what you see, look vibrant and happy.

GOOD LUCK, GOD BLESS YOU & HAPPY NEW YEAR

Realize that almost everyone else out here is nervous and as shy as you are. There's nothing wrong with having anxiety. Once you realize this, it should be a big 1st step for you. I use to be very shy because I stuttered really bad. I just relaxed and it went away like over night. So just chill out and relax. You only get one life and you don't wanna miss out on the best of it by being too shy, right?

Okay, I'll accept that Best Answer now, LOL!

For starters, here's a task for ya.... When you are walking outside, make eye contact and smile at 10 strangers every day for 1 week. Then, say hello to them (or good morning/afternoon/evening). Again, 10 people. These techniques will help you realize that you CAN break out of your shy self.

Do you have friends? If so, do they go to parties? Get yourself invited to one and mingle with 5 people there -- basic introduction stuff. Smile alot!!

I know this is tough -- I'm kinda shy also but I've tried these techniques and they work really well. Good luck.

Just get out there and meet people. Take a course that involves a small group, then find more activities that involve more and more people. that way you place yourself in a social situation that is not directed to it's social aspect per se but to something else, like learning a language. Many people are shy, even actors, pop stars, people you don't think are shy, so don't worry about it so much, accept it as part of you...that your first step.

Rolando, youre a moron. I love people who just answer questions for points. I think honey, that the first step to coming out of your shell is self-confidence. Go get your hair redone, or nails, or a new outfit. Try going to the mall ALL BY YOURSELF! I know it sounds hard, but once youre there, you'll notice that people keep to themselves, unless you initiate conversation. Strike up convo with someone younger than you- i bet you'll suprise yourself. If you take the plunge once, you'll realize that the water isnt so cold once you get in. Best of luck!

Become a waitress! sounds silly, I know. But, I was once a shy person myself, after getting a job at a local pub I put myself in the position to HAVE to talk to people I don't know. It's helped in my everyday life and even helped at school. Speeches that once scared me are not a big deal. Try it!
