No people in the world more than Americans want to celebrate their freedom...but when someone who removed the freedom of millions, and punished them to boot, is very justifiably removed from life we claim 'I don't want to celebrate' the death of anyone.
Isn't that the same as saying you value the life of the criminal more than the lives the criminal took away?
Popular opinions on this subject include:
1) No one should celebrate someone's death because none of us are perfect anyway.
By that reasoning we shouldn't have jails. Dumb.

May be it is not wrong to celebrate. We see him as an evil man so we rejoice that he is dead and has paid for what he did. However, his supporter see George W Bush as an evil man. IF they manage to kill him would they have the right to celebrate his death? I bet the American would be incensed and extremely indignant "How dare they?"
Would you be so self-righteous and opinionated as to say everything you do is justifiable but nobody else can do the same?
I will probably get a lot of thumbs down for this but then why ask for an opinion if all you want it to have others agree with you?
I am in no way taking any side or sympathise with Hussein. Just want to point out things that I have observed about human nature.

We are not celebrating the death of Saddam, we are celbrating the fact that the man is no longer around to kill and torture others, includ-ing children,or have others do it. He did not just order hundreds to be killed, many were tortured to death, why do we have to take things into own hands such as putting others in jail? To protect the innocent from people that cannot control themselves or their feelings and eventually act on these feelings,they may be in a rage, on alcohol or drugs, Saddam was narcisstic and egotistical and full of pride, his judgement was out of control, he had his own son in law killed in front of his wife, which was Saddam's own daughter, talk about cruelty, oh horrible, I don't agree with the death penalty, but if someone is running loose and is a threat to my self or family and others, then someone has to step in, and stop people like that. We live in America and many have not known the fear of living under a dictator, and lets hope and pray it never happens.

I wouldn't say that it's wrong to celebrate Saddam's death. He was a ruthless leader who used his power to keep people in a grip of fear. It's similar to Hitler who also was responsible for mass genocide. My only concern with the execution is the possible fall-out. As an American I am concerned that the execution might infuriate more dislike towards my country by those nations that opposed the war, and even worse, by the insurgents in Iraq. We still have many American military there that are having to feel the brunt of any repercussion that the execution might cause. I guess what I'm trying to say is I find it hard to fully celebrate when I'm concerned about the harm that might be caused to our troops.

Actually i don't think the word wrong is appropriate cos it is by far not wrong in any way but as a christian killing would not have been the best decision in this or any other situation because forgiveness has to play its part and not only that;man did not create any body on earth not even bush himself though rich, he owns no body's life therefore he had no right whatsoever over God to declare Saddam's execution. God created us ALL in his own image and will judge us ON HIS OWN.if he wants to take our life, he will at any time in fact.just remember death is not something to celebrate about lets just say, the number of people suffering because of Saddam will or might be reduced, don't ya think so??

I appreciate and understand your question. But ask yourself this. Saddam was an elected official. His election was no more or less valid that Bushes first election they both stole power. Bush waged this war looking for weapons of mass destruction where are the weapons? If the gloves don't fit you must acquit. Saddam was an evil man but the Iraqis put him in office. Bush has waged an illegal war on a country that at the time hadn't committed a crime. Bush has sent 3,000 American troops to their death and has killed who knows how man Innocent Iraqis. From a distance it is hard to tell who the real dictator is.

It was wrong to kill in in that style, and it's wrong to celebrate, it's sick! I am an American too, but Saddam Hussein is a person, obviously during his childhood or teenage years something happened to him to make him a mean man. But that doesn't mean that he should be hung in such a medieval style, or that it should be celebrated. He's a person, think of how scared he must have been to the hours leading up to the excution and going to the excution getting the noose around his neck, and then knowing that these were this final seconds to live....

I think that although many things he did were wrong, he shouldn't have died like that. Sure, he did kill many people, but if you believed in God, revenging is not the right thing. So leave it to God. People should not leave matters in their own hands.
Yes, he was bad, VERY bad, but maybe God will or will not
forgive him, but people shouldn't take account in this.
Shilor... is right. You all know that it is wrong to kill someone, regardless of what they did. God knows, and you killing him is as just as bad.
This is the obvious, Evil should be punished, but it's not God's fault, it's Satan misleading everyone, like now. So, yes it might seem I'm cruel, but if some dictator kills us all, it's going to be OK. It might not seem for you, but then the majority wouldn't
either.Why would it be OK? Because God would know, so we could get resurrected. The dictator, I'm not so sure. Only reason why no one believes it is because is it too good to be true?It's not.
It's just that Earth has been mislead so much that it's hard to believe it could happen. And the dead Iraqis or the ones from NY could come back, but killing Hussein will only be doing the same thing he did, kill others.
