I know they are not entirely the QBs fault. Is longevity the key or is someone like David Carr already well on his way?

John Elway was sacked 516 times from 1983-1998. He holds the career record for being sacked. Dave Kreig is second with 494.

Carr has been sacked 248 times in his career so far, and owns the season record of 76 in 2002. He may yet break the career record if they don't get more offensive help, and if he lasts without getting a serious injury.

It's tough to say since they don't really keep track of that (usually goes by teams, not quarterbacks) but my guess is it's a QB who played for a long time (ie. Fran Tarkenton, George Blanda, Dan Marino, Brett Favre, Archie Manning). Here's a note though, suprisingly a guy nobody really knows is probably up there on the list. QB Dan Pastorini of the Houston Oilers (He set an NFL record for being sacked the most times in 1971, broke it in 1972, and broke it again in 1973.)

Hey, if Tim Couch could have stayed in the league, I'm pretty sure he would easily break Elway's record.
