Those charities you listed are all British charities, what the hell did any of them have to do with Iraq?

I think you are talking crap.

even the worst people have their good points, but this still doesn't excuse the ruthless and brutal murdering of his own people. i'm not sure that we will ever view him as a 'great man', certainly a major ploitical figure of his time but no more than that. i can't help but feel that he shouldn't have been executed, as this seems to be to much of an easy escape for his crimes. a long sentence first may have been better, but then again, do tax payers really want to pay for such a monster?
i agree with what you say about judging a man, but with the crimes he so publically commited, you cant help but judge.

Evil or not evil is not the main issue of why he was hanged .At the time of these atrocities Saddam was on good terms with the UK and US who in spite of knowing what was going on just turned a blind eye and were happy to sell him the weapons to do it with .He was hanged because he stopped towing the line and he knew too much .There are plenty of pictures on the Internet that show him being pally with top western government officials of the time

If the world has lost a great man, then why did he not do do something halt the suffering, instead of encouraging it? Iraq is looking dire at the moment, cos it's lost direction. Hopefully, now that there is a bit of closure, the country can settle down a bit.

Regardless of his charity work, killing hundreds of thousands of his own people cannot be forgiven by saving turtles. His charity work like giving thousands of dollars to any family who gave up their sons and daughters to be a suicide bomber. Nice charity. Although Iraq continues to be a dangerous place, it will be a better world without the likes of this ruthless dictator.

Even if what you state is true it cannot mask the evil in this man, ask the survivors of his regime, his are desert boots no one should walk in as to empathise with him can only dilute any good in you. The world has not lost a great man and cannot replace those lost because of him. Think hard my friend and don't make light of such darkness.

i agree with you and besides, it may not have been his fault that those people died- what he did was asked his leading followers to enforce some rules and they did, however did it by killing lots of people etc. sadam couldnt do much about it since it would mean that his leading followers would turn on hiim and kill him. however after earlier today it's clear that you can delay death but not escape it.
if it was his fault at the above is bullshit then i think we should let God judge him (and judge bush aswel wen he kicks the bucket- lets hope harshly)

Of course that makes up for the wanton murders of 350,000 people. That more than covers the fact that he was placing live human beings in vats of acid. Of course that excuses all of the mass graves filled with women and children. It was just dandy the way he sprayed poison gas on the Kurds, because I'm sure they got a big kick out of that. He was a great man, if you consider that he's responsible for more the deaths of more than a third of a million people. Tell me, when are you planning on checking into rehab for that severe addiction you have to hero-worshiping mass murderers? Are you related to Timothy McVeigh?

There is some good in all men. Whatever good Saddam did was for his own interest. History books will say we lost a tyrant.

I don't consider the man a great hero. Anyone that would muster gas his own people is a devil. The world is much better off without the man.
