Firstly do you really need a guillotine. In the £15 price range you are more likely to find a trimmer. This is a circular blade in a housing pushed along a bar. Trimmers are more accurate than guillotines and you can get optional fancy edge blades for some of them if you are into craft work. For trimming digital photos the Swordfish 507 is a very good model and if you can find a craft or stationery shop that has bought in the suppliers last offer you might even get one close to £15 although the rrp is £35.53 ex VAT. The blade lasts a long time but is replaceable and the table is marked out with the most common photo sizes.

Guillotines have a pull down blade and the price of an A4 one starts at about £50 and will cut up to 10 sheets of copier paper. More expensive ones cut more sheets at once up to a heavy duty model which will cut 550 sheets and costs £1500 plus £172 if you want the stand. It is harder to get an accurate cut with a guillotine as the blade is in a safety case so you can't see where it falls. If you just occasionally want to cut a large amount of paper try taking it to a printer and asking them to do it in their power guillotine. This should not cost much.

Hi, this is genuine information: as of today 31 Dec 06 Aldi have them on special offer for £14.99 or wait until 4 Jan 07 and Lidl will have them for £9.99. This information is from their leaflets. I hope you are successful in gaining a guillotine.

You can find them in art supply stores (not craft stores). Most large office supply stores also carry them.I don't remember what I paid for mine, but I do remember it was rather pricey. If you want one, you'll have to spend more money. In the long run, it will pay off

Try a stationary shop or an arts and craft shop like Hobbycraft as they tend to stock them!
