Congratulations!
You can send your donations to... (lol)

First, tuck your winnings away at your bank and don't advertise. If you are not careful you will be surrounded by new friends, relatives, cheats and scoundrels, all with 'great ideas' for your money. As the saying goes, "A Fool and His Money are Soon Parted."

Second, find a Financial Advisor to help you sort out how to use your money to take care of any taxes due, clear existing debts, make reasonable purchases which can improve your life, and last but not least, invest a large part of this money in a way that it can help provide for you for a long time. This may sound like a lot of money now, but without self-restraint and good investments you could end up back where you were before, or even worse.

Third, oh ok, go ahead. Now that you started to sort things out with the Financial advisor, take a few hundred and treat yourself. Try to think of it as investing in yourself, rather than 'spending' it. By treating it that way, your money will go a lot further.

First of all pay off every single debt that you have, credit card and all that.
Put £10,000 immediately into a pension plan for the future ... sounds boring but you will be so glad of that in a few years' time. It will make you serious money in 30 years' time. Take serious advice on investing in a property to rent ... perhaps a £20,000 deposit on a flat and then put aside another £10,000 to cover payments in the future until you get a tenant or if there are any breaks in payments.
You will now have a regular income fom the rent and a guarantee that you will have a pension in the future.
Blow £10,000 on some mad luxuries.
With the rest, take some good advice on where to place the money, some for easy access and some for long term growth.

You could Invest it in an index-tracker mutual fund. If it makes 7% a year, it will double every 10 years from now until you retire.

Yeah. Right. If you won 100,000 dollars you would not be advertising it on this forum! Nice bait though I guess.

Save half or invest, blow £10,000 on what ever you want (personally I'd probably spend it on clothes, shoes, accessories and a car!!) and give the rest to family and friends with 10% going to charity!
