Citizens of many countries read various newspapers including the ones tossed in their front yard. CNN is international, but other countries like the UK often quote their media - each citizen of any country has the right to use their countries media as one of their sources.

CNN in America is different to CNN International.
I often watch Fox News on Sky and have visited America many times, where I have taken in CNN.
My view is that the American news media is bordering on propaganda. American's receive the news that seems to follow government policy or is sugar coated to remain consistent with the image of America as a global icon of democracy & freedom.
You sometimes feel that the US feels their foreign policy is a selfless gift that kindly helps lesser nations find peace. Fox News gets quite upset by the lack of gratitude shown by Iraq & Afghanistan for the democracy and freedom America installed.
Most American's don't travel abroad, so the media doesn't seem to report too much foreign news either. (Why travel when you live in the greatest country in the world?)
In my opinion, the US media does not serve the US people. There is a worrying lack of knowledge on foreign affairs, current affairs & US history.
I'm not being anti-American at all here. I am stating my opinion that the US news media fails to inform and educate its audience.

Most Americans are by nature isolationists and hence not interested in anything outside the USA [before election Bush never left the States] unless it affects their taxes - such as the debacle in Iraq/oil. The main media they use is television - CNN and the more right wing Fox news. Doesn't it give you hope for the future?

I was on holiday in Colorado a few years back at the time of the Olympics, we were watching the TV and it was purely americans run this, they have won that, etc i came to the conclusion that is was just the American Olympics, it was very bizarre to watch!
Do we quote the BBC, sky news, The Sun (Great informative read lol) any of our broadsheets, i've never seen it!

The news ONLY reprts what the government want us to hear. Do you really think that they would report ALL the details. Of course not and any intellegent person would know this.
Americans think that they are the better race and that it was justified creating a war against a country under false pretensis of WMD when they should of bee consentrating on Osama Bin Laden I mean he was resposible for 9/11. What happened to that it seems to have been put to one side. I mean are they even looking for him?

i watched some of it this morning (i get sky so i can watch most of the worlds media channels.) it seems to be the official channel of whatever george bush says while fox is akin to other murdoch mouthpieces like the Sun and sensationalises pretty much anything it can get it's hands.
The only channel in my eyes that had a balanced view of the execution was Al-Jazeera which took the time to speak to Saddams supporters who were in mourning as well as his opponents who were dancing in the street.
2 sides to every story

I don't think a lot of Americans are all that worldly. They want to know only about themselves and what's going on around them. We only now about the middle East because we have troops there.
