On 'Ashadha Sukla Dasami', the 10th day of the bright fortnight of Ashadha (June-July), return journey or 'Bahuda Yatra' of the deities commences in the same manner from Gundicha temple to the main temple like Rath Yatra.When two months of Ashadha fall in one year,Jagannath Rath Yatra or the' chariot journey of Lord Jagannatha', It is a festival that celebrates the annual visit of the lord to his birthplace. The Jagannath Temple at Puri, Orissa is the venue for all celebrations. -
More than 5 to 6 lakh people visit Puri for this festival. Though it will be very crowded, you can manage to be there and take part in Rath yatra and have Dharshan. Only thing always there is a fear of contamination of water in that period and you have to be careful.

It is a celebration in PURI (ORRISA) and it is a week long celebration done on the day of RATHYATRA.
It is not advisable to go there on the occasion as there is crowds of Lakhs and Lakhs of persons on the occasion.

Unless your idea of fun is to be crushed by crowds of people and run the risk of stampedes and worse dont even think of participating in the procession. If you are determined to go then watch from afar from a safe point.
