From what the media displays, to what people write on forums & on Yahoo answers, most Americans dislike/hate George W Bush..

If this is the case, why is he still in government?
Is it because its too early for an election?

Why do the people vote for him?
Is it because no other candidates are worthy of presidential status?

Curiosity10 - certain amount of votes per state?
I was under the impression that everyone votes and they tally the votes up at the end?

Pie-Jur-Wot - Bush cannot be re-elected again? how does that work? Can the people not vote him anymore because he can only be President for a certain lenght of time?

In Australia, our Prime Minister has been PM for 10 years running and unless he gets voted out or he chooses to leave is the only way he wont be PM

What has been said about our media is correct.....folks don't want to hear GOOD things on the news!! They want dirty laundry!! Our President is elected to a 4 year term, & may be elected to a maximum of two terms. The only way that period could be shortened is by death, resignation, or impeachment.

For the latter to happen the President must have committed a crime, or had conduct of a treasonous nature. Our Congress would then hold impeachment hearings, and ONLY thru an affirmative vote of both the House & Senate may a sitting President be impeached,

For the most part all of our Presidents have been honorable men trying to use their ideas & ideals to make this country even greater.

I had voted for the Democratic Presidential candidate in all 8 of the elections I voted for President, starting in '72, thru & including a vote for Gore in '00.....I too, voted for George Bush in '04 as Ii was certain he was the best candidate on the ballot at the time. (Many of the best & brightest folks in our country would never dream of running for office because they don't want the scrutiny & abuse our leaders accept as part of the job.)

As a former elected official & political activist, I can assure you it is always easier to be the "Voice of Dissent" than to lead the people on a controversial issue. Hindsight is always 20/20!!

Yeah hes pretty much hated now, his actions will blatantly lead to more terrorist attacks specially after saddam got the death penalty. I guess in 2004 ppl didnt see what he was going to do, I think if there was an election now hed probably lose. However he is a true republican and american people love right-wing capitalist crap, and the way he managed the american economy has been reasonably good, but i dont think it will count much cuz ppl are more concerned bout other issues like the war. Newayz he cannot be re-elected again so we only have to cope with him for another couple of years, so lets hope he doesnt piss off terrorists too much for these next two years.

And oh, ye other candidates wud prob be just as good(or bad) generally speaking, in fact there is only one candidate who can beat him which is the democrat party, off course there would be a slightly different approach as they are different parties, but i think overall it wouldn't be so different, i mean prob USA wudnt put as many troops in iraq but there wud most likely be enough troops there and therefore casualties.

The truth is, its realy hard to be president of the biggest economy in the world, and not to be hated by some is virtually impossible even if you are the best president possible. People will always complain about who is in charge cuz there is no way you can keep everyone happy

From what the media displays, to what people write on forums & on Yahoo answers, most Americans dislike/hate George W Bush.. 49 % of the country dislikes him but 51% voted him back in .

If this is the case, why is he still in government? Impeachment would take about as long as he will be in office anyways and who wants another taint on us.
Is it because its too early for an election? yes

Why do the people vote for him? Kerry was not strong enough to lead us.
Is it because no other candidates are worthy of presidential status? yes

Because no one else even came close, some people would say. I say, no one in the mainstream two parties COULD, because all they want is to get elected, they don't give a damn about the country or the people. Unfortunately, that's what we have settled for these days, because special interests run the elections with their money. I vote, because even if special interests do have a lock, if you DON'T vote, you have no right to complain, because you didn't do your part.I voted third party, because as I said, neither of the mainstream parties gives a damn anymore.

We almost never oust a President mid term. Just give some one else a chance next election. And yes, Kerry would have been a complete disaster. The dislike of Bush is mostly hype from a very liberal media. It is disappointment with how Iraq turned out more than dislike of Bush the man right now.

Since he has been elected twice in office, I have voted twice to not elect him into the White House. I live in New York , and I assured you my state did not choose him as the next president during the two elections. Each States receive a certain amount of electoral votes and unfortunately his winning votes are coming from those states.

Don't believe everything you read & see in the media. President Bush has done a lot of good things for this country!!! The Bush supporers usually just stay quiet because there is no changing someones mind that does not like him. You just better pray the next one we get is as good as him. From a Bush supporter!!!!!

- Impeaching a president is next to impossible. And yes, we've got two years left before the next election

- People voted for him for several reasons. Unfortunately the opposing candidate wasn't very strong. Also, people were afraid of change since we were smack in the middle of a war and, well, people fear change.

That's a really simplified answer but I think it should help.
