My brother just travelled to Manila from the United States to meet and possibly marry his internet girlfriend of over five years.

He stayed there for a month, and as it turns out....IT WAS LOVE!

They were married Christmas Eve. It took every cent he had to do this. Well, almost....he had six bucks when he got home.

They are sooo in love. They called him datu puti there...."white prince". And she is absolutely beautiful!

No not at all romantic to me.....

hmmm...not to sure if the word to use is "LOVE"....he should have taken longer after their first meeting before getting married after a month!

I am about to married to a Filipino man who I have lived with for two years in Australia...I have lived here in Manila for the past four months...lots of eye openers here....

I am sure they call him "white prince" because royalty always seems to have $$...hope he has the visa papers prepared...

good luck....

well, maybe it is love. i'm from the philippines and let me tell you what is datu puti here. in our history datu puti was a leader back then. but today, when someone heard datu puti he/she would probably say a vinegar. because datu puti is a brand of vinegar here in the philippines. hehe.

Every cent he had bar 6 bucks eh? Gee, he could have come to Oz and bought an Asian mail order bride for the 6 bucks and he'd have had a wife and most of his dough!

Philippine women are so desperate to leave the Philippines and hook up with an American that it is unbelievable. He should be very careful. Before long she will want to try and bring over her entire family. Phillipino women have an agenda. Watch out. Trust me -- it ain't love. It's an agenda.

He is screwed and he doesn't even realize it yet!

Having married an overseas man I met online and having been happily married for four years, I agree that it is very, very romantic.

I hope it is also realistic for your brother and his new wife. The culture difference can be difficult to overcome, as well as one person being far away from family. But I wish them the very best.

Love is fleeting. Check with us in 6 months and let us know if it was real or just a way to get into the US without waiting.

Let me know how they are doing in a year. Thanks for the heads up on datu puti. If someone called me that previously, I might have had to hurt them.,
