there are all kinds of search engines out there. you can pick and choose which to use to find one that you like most.
downloading is determined by your system modem speed and type of connection. some have speed advantages over others, but unless you are dealing in hundreds of gigs, most are sufficient for the common user and are limited only by type of connection such as cable vs dsl vs standard phone line.

Well there are lots of peer to peer softwares available for that.
like limewire , kazaa , bitcomet ,bittorrent , Ares. I recommend you to try ares or lomewire to use as a new user.

one of the best things is utorrent u can download it from www.download.com then u will need to go to other sites like
www.mininova.org
www.isohunt.com
www.torrent-damage.net

then u can search and download torrent files then just add the torrent file into utorrent and wait for it to download!!!
it is very simple!!!
