I am looking for a city to study Spanish in over the Summer. I have narrowed all the cities down to either Valencia or Barcelona. I am looking for a city that has many interesting things to see and do, great architecture, both modern and traditional aspects present in the city, a pretty beach ;), and...of the two cities, possibly the one with less tourists during the summer? I live in Madrid now, and will return there in the Fall. My Spanish has improved since I have been living here and I love this city, however, there are far too many English speakers in Madrid. I would like to study intensively in a city where there is less tourism and less english spoken.

Barcelona is very touristic city and very crowded with tourist + pickpocket. The cost of living is also higher compare to Valencia.

La gente habla Valenciano solo en valencia
La gente habla Catalan solo en Cataluña

Most of people in Barcelona speak Calatun, it may not be good for you. Valencia has night beach with great night life. It's a modern city with the old quarter.

But if you like to see great architect, colorful Barcelona is far more better.

PS: I love Paella there

"I would like to study intensively in a city where there is less tourism and less english spoken."

Then, dont' go to the mediterranean coast!!. Or to the Canary Is. or the Balearic Is.!!

Anyway, Barcelona or Valencia. Well, in Valencia they speak mostly spanish, while in Barcelona they speak catalan, basically, and they are quite "sensitive" about their language, so, not the best in place in the world to learn spanish.

Have you consider northern Spanish coast?. Beaches, mountains, great food, history, culture, beautiful cities, milder weather (but still pretty good in summer), and great landscapes. And more importantly, much less foreigners than in Costa del Sol, heheheee..

If the choice is between Valencia and Barcelona, the you have to study in Valencia.

Barcelona is beautiful, don´t take me wrong only that they speak Catalán most of the time which will not let you practice spanish.
They are very fantatic about the Catalán.

Valencia has the Valenciano but most of them (specially young people) speak Spanish more than Valenciano.

Good luck.

I know for a fac that the native language of Basrcelona is Catalan, but I'm not sure about Valencia. I'm sure the oppurtunity to use learn and use Spanish will be all the same, but I think it's something to consider.

of direction Dubya and Jr would say Villa and Ibra......What has Ibra accomplished at Barca? He in no way got here by in enormous video games and replaced into too sluggish to maintain up with the Barca attack. a minimum of Villa can yet isn't as explosive and can't make the same runs Eto'o can. Messi worked his terrific with Eto'o or perhaps pronounced it, Iniesta pronounced there shoulda been a statue of Eto'o at Barca to honor him and what he's carried out, Xavi fought for Eto'o to declare even regardless of the indisputable fact that it did no longer paintings needless to say when you consider that Pep did no longer like in basic terms like he did no longer Ibra yet Eto'o replaced into nevertheless effiecient on the sector and did no longer use his dating (undesirable) with the coach to make excuse as to why he sucks. Ibra is a great participant yet too one dimensional i think of Villa is extra constructive and Eto'o extra constructive than the two in basic terms ask Messi. communicate approximately blacks being apes and all which you do comprehend Abidal, Keita and Alves are black precise? Alves did no longer get a tan to be this color he's brazilian and you already know there anybody is ******* anybody. Pele is black (arguebly the terrific of all time), Obama is black ( President of the strongest united states in the worldwide), Will Smith (strongest guy in Hollywood), I won't even communicate approximately Tiger Woods, Micheal Jordan, Kobe Bryant and so forth. The saddest issues is which you 2 in all risk won't be able to even get the fragrance of a woman, have depressing lives, jobs and the only element you have is soccer hmmm soccer. Blacks human beings have been the unique human beings, there have been the 1st in this earth and it began with them, without them you does no longer be right here. you in all risk have black genes on your loved ones you do no longer even realize it. when I see "we croats hate apes" that's what that's, i understand a thank you to verify between the lines punk! consistent with risk I shoulda in basic terms pronounced you cuz Dubya did no longer definitely have any racist remark. whether you have been joking it is not a stable thank you to do it. 2+2 is 4 Mavs 11: This wasn't directed to you as you asked a honest question!

saludos!
