Is it the feeling someone gets when they read it? Is it the heartfelt emotion that screams from inbetween the lines? Is it the power of words? Is it the visual that is created, putting you right there in the middle of the poem?

Your heart is what makes a good poem. What is around you is a good poem, it's true, a poem can be based on literally everything in this world, from dust to sofa's to love and harmony. Let me come up with my own, ummm:
When hearts become intertwined,
love becomes blind.
love is good and evil, bad and good,
but if only done, like it should.
Because love....it's what keeps the world spinning!
Yeah something like that, it doesnt make sense though!what do you think?

i think a good poem is a good poem when the writer uses emotion and most the time is about them or something that has happen to someone!

I think all of those things :) Sounds like you are an aspiring poet and I'd recommend a book by a poetry professor named Mary Kenzie...i believe it's called The Art of Poetic Writing. It's kind of dense and a lot of detail, but it's valuable...i'd also just read a lot of poetry of all kinds
But all of those things, and maybe more (including form), contribute!

When you can see the description and feel it as if you were that person or feeling that emotion. Good descriptions make a good poem.

its the truth inside of them, wat they truely feel when they write it, it doesnt matter wether u like the poem or not its just the aknowledgement that someone has took thier time and spilled there emotion into it. theres a poem for everyone my personal favourite... william blake
