Change it back! You probably turned EVERYTHING off! Some of these programs MUST run! If you dont know what your doing, stay outta there!

If the message displayed reads this:
"You have used the System Configuration Utility to make changes to the way Windows starts.
The System Configuration Utility is currently in Diagnostic or Selective Startup mode, causing this message to be displayed and the utility to run every time Windows starts.
Choose the Normal Startup mode on the General tab to start Windows normally and undo the changes you made using the System Configuration Utility."
Then it is safe, it always displays with me, just:
Check the box for - Don't show this message or launch the System Configuration Utility when Windows start, and click OK.

Have a look here for info. on using MSCONFIG (safely): http://alri.org/step2/usingmsconfig.htm
I recommend first printing the instructions, read carefully so you understand, and then work your way through the instructions. Before starting, go to Start / Programs / Accessories / System Tools / System Restore. Set a restore point which will allow you to return your computer to how it was before you began using MSCONFIG.

If you can identify what a program is, you can decide sensibly whether or not to let it run.
If you don't know what it is, google its name.
If that doesn't help, leave it on. A lot of things like virus checkers won't run if you turn off the wrong things.
Windows will still moan at you once you've decided what you really want to run. You can then tell it to shut up (I think there's a "shut up" tick box)

You need to have a good working knowledge of windows before making changes to windows registry using msconfig, or any other programme, if possible go back to an earlier restore point and see if this at least lets you use your computer. I would recommend that you take computer to repair shop and ask them to reset your registry

Don't use msconfig unless you know what you're doing; instead install Winpatrol. Its very easy to use and you can stop non-essential programs loading on startup.
http://www.winpatrol.com
No one should untick everything that loads on startup. Be careful what advice you take. Change it back.
