What can I eat, drink, do to keep me alert and awake today? It's about 6 am and I need to be to work at 7, so I got 45 mins to see answers. I am BEGGING you, I don't need to screw my job up by being downright tired! I have partial insomnia in that if I have to wake at 8 am or earlier, I just can't sleep at all that night before! I'm sick of feeling tired and groggy at work, what can I eat, drink, take to help me out?

Whatever you do...DON"T DRINK CAFFEINE! It will make you feel like a ragged mess that's been dragged through the mud when you haven't slept. Remember, caffeine does not GIVE you energy, it just requires your body to use up your available energy FASTER. This is not what you want when you have to make it through the day.

I have been up all night a lot over the past couple of years (and it gets hard when you get past your early twenties). First off, remember that your body's circadian rhythms will kick in and you will start to feel awake at the regular time once you get going. Here's my very best advice, works every time. 1) Get B Vitamins into your system. Stress and lack of sleep rapidly depletes B vitamins, which makes you edgy, shaky and will give you cloudy thinking with short-term memory loss. And get lots of B6.

2) Eat light! Do not eat heavy foods or anything hard to digest. Boiled eggs are good, with fruit and toast and keep your sugar levels down. Anything that is heavy or filling will sap all of your energy.

3) Do some restorative yoga. Child's Pose, Dog Pose, The one with the legs up against the wall is great. Rest in relaxation pose. You want to spend 20 minutes in the parasympathetic state, which is slow breathing, lightly focused mind, slower heat rate. This is even more restorative to the body than sleep.

And if you have trouble sleeping on a regular basis, try valerian or melatonin. They both have helped me when I can't get to sleep. Good luck! ~*~

Get a good breakfast, but nothing heavy that will make you more sleepy and loggy while it is digesting. It will provide the energy you need, and allow the body to wake up and start functioning. Coffee is fine. An orange or grapefruit for the sugar rush it can quickly provide.

That's about it for less than an hour to go.

Have a good day.

Have an energy drink...such as redbull or something which has gurana as an ingredient. Also if you can get a hold of them...take some "no doze" tablets...you can buy them over the counter at chemists or also some petrol stations also.

Lollies with suger during the day are also good to keep you going!!

Insomnia (sleeplessness) is due to stress, dietary and medical
problems. By making small lifestyle changes like having a fixed
daily routine, relaxing and eating properly, insomnia can be
cured. I found the information at http://tinyurl.com/jfzpz useful
for getting sleep.

Consider taking a 10-15 minute powernap on your break. Don't lay down - sit and rest your head on your hand. Use the alarm on your cell phone or watch if you need to.

Also, get a Mountain Dew (or the like) and 'nurse' it (instead of slamming it) so you get a steady influx of sugar and caffeine through out the morning.

If possibly, try to constantly engage people to keep your brain alert.

Take a shower, drink coffee and eat a light breakfast.
You can take the energy drinks if you want; Red Bull or one with lots of Vitamin B (forgot the name, just look on the back)..
Good luck.

Eat a good breakfast. If you are in a hurry grab a breakfast bar. An energy drink might do the trick, but I don't suggest it on a reguar basis.

Well sweety, don't eat too much, have a couple of cups of coffee, go in the shower... Maybe you should buy "Wake-Up" pills... they use to do the job when I was in University, buy a couple bottles of energizing drinks like red bull for the day

Your mind will start to naturally wake up soon but you need some kind of energy drink to keep you going plus lots of coffee. I like Monster, seems to keep me going but watch for the crash at the end.
