I was on complete bed rest for 6 months as well.
No problem- I wanted that baby more than anything

Be your own nutrionist- really make it work for you.
I was well known around the healthfood store.

I used herbal teas (safe for baby) as not just drinks, they were bases for soups and mixtures and used them again for the baby food when he arrived.

Papaya is a great digestive aid. [fresh or pills]
Fennel seeds. ( often used in sausage- digestive aid)
[you can get these candy coated as well] I would just pop an hand full in my mouth, chew chew chew and wash it down

fresh parsley ( great digestive aid) [MY FAVORITE]
Real bark licorice- (taste like black licorice) at healthfood store.

Peppermint is a digestive aid, yet not really recommended for pregancy for several reasons. It is my favorite most times.

Chamomile TEA is great and I made my rice and oatmeal with it.
Make it fresh, get a muslim tea bag and fresh flowers and make a huge batch of it. No sugar or honey (sorry) ruins medicianl quality of it. ( most folks won't tell ya that)

You will have to seriously "think outside the box" and make up some crazy food combos for you.

I actually was on a protein liquid diet and ate only a hand full of food at a time some 7-8 times a day. I had a bowl of nuts by my bed, got raw unsalted ones at healthstore. Mixed dry fruits with it and it soften the stools a bit to help with digestion.

I took my vitamins at night with a sleeping pill (OK by Dr) so that the pain of digestion would not keep me up.

I laid only on my left side. Its better for circulation.

Make this recipe- Rice with chicken broth (low sodium) with an entire fresh parsley chopped into it. Eat it with every meal, it will help you. I added pine nuts or walnuts to mine, for protein.

I had a serious digestive issue as well, I ate three tablespoons of food and 1/2 cup of drink at a time. that's it.

So I didn't waste any time on "crap food or empty water".

Cut back on the acid food, tomatoes were killer to me.
Use natural real foods if you can, pills are hard to digest- I took liquid vitamins for months.

Best wishes.

Peanut butter, almonds, hummus, tabouli, protein drinks, soy milk and rice w/ parsley. Was my main food for months, I did drink chicken broth- won ton soup.
Yet at raw fruit (apples/pears/cantaloupe) as my fiber source, since acidic peppers of any sort and citrus fruit hurt me so bad.

Dairy was not an option for me- both allergic and that causes so much mucus and sinus pain- I just found calcuim another way.

I have gall stones and I get TERRIBLE heartburn! Don't let your stomach get empty. Eat several small meals throughout the day instead of 3 big ones.

I agree that milk will help, pair that with some saltines, and then afterwards, you can even try sucking on a little peppermint candy. (They use peppermint in a lot of over the counter remedies for upset stomach, gas and heartburn.)

Prop yourself up in the bed too. Laying flat will make it worse.

Chronic heartburn is usually from acid reflux - stomach acid is getting past the little valve and into your esophagus. You also should know some natural ways to treat your heartburn. Learn them here https://bitly.im/aM9z3

The most immediate thing you can do is to stop drinking coffee and cola. Smoking is not good either, but that might be harder to stop. Don't over-eat. Don't lie down too soon after eating. Don't burp too much - this carries acid up with the burp.

heartburn the most common symptom of acid reflux disease (also known as gastroespohageal reflux disease, or GERD). Heartburn feels like a burning pain in the center of the chest. It is caused by acid from the stomach backing up into the esophagus. is a symptom of acid reflux disease (GERD) Also known as Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease

Milk stops heart burn and ginger ale settles stumochs. Stout beer increases the appetite.

As for foods you should avoid pizza and anything with acid such as pineapple. The reason pizza should be avoided is that the dough it is made with is dense and difficult for the body to break down. Pizza consumption has been linked to indigestion and heart conditions such as arrythmia.

When my mother was pregnant with my youngest brother she used to drink gallons of antacid - mylanta and what not.

I hope all goes well with your pregnancy and that you are blessed with a beautiful healthy baby.

Milk and other dairy products are good. Avoid spicy and acidic foods, and eat slowly.

Ice cream worked for me. And definitely no garlic or spicy food.
