I have a kitten that is about 14 weeks old. He eats normally but will not eat any treats we've tried to give him. We've got another cat that is about 6 months old and he has no problems eating food or treats. Is there something wrong with the younger cat not eating the treats or do some cats just not like them?

I also have a cat that doesn't like treats. I have 3 cats accually. Only one of them will not eat treats. Some cats do not like to eat treats. Just like us, sometimes we do not like certain foods. Also you said that your kitty is only 14 weeks old. She might grow to like them. He is still pretty young yet. He may learn to like them when he is abit older.

I think some cats are just more finicky than others. My old cat never wanted any treats at all - the only things, besides her cat food, that she liked were butter and honey. She didn't even like tuna fish!! Our younger cat will eat all kinds of things, and would eat tuna every single day if I let her. Just figure you are lucky that you don't have to spend as much on treats for your new kitty, and reward him with extra playtime or something instead.

No... nothing wrong... some cats simply don't like treats or certain foods that another cat may find irrisistable. My older cat will eat tiny scraps of table food from my hand (I don't do this often), but will have nothing to do with so-called cat treats and even fish-flavored hairball gel. My year old cat loves the hairball gel and will willingly submit to the toothbrush routine to get that particular treat right after. Both cats don't like commercial cat treats though.

If the cat eats normal, is playful and has all the signs of good health (thick coat etc) I would not worry. Some of my cats like treats, others don't.

Maybe you just need to experiment with different kinds of treats. There are little tuna flakes sold at Petco stores, made from real tuna fish that your cat may like. Just check out the backs to see the ingedients and look for meat meal ingredients or meats.

If nothing works, it's no big deal. More dinner for him. :)

Try a different flavor of cat treats. Not all cats like them though.

Some cats don't like them.

Some view it like a parent giving the kid a vitamin or an asprin, they just don't have the appeal to want it on their own. Or they might view it as aggressive delivery.

Cats are the most finicky creatures on earth. :)

I have 5 of them.

Cats are like people - they like different things. I've had cats that would eat nothing but cat food - not even turkey or salmon. I've had others that loved canalope, chip, cracker. And then there was munchie cat - he liked sweets, like cookies and doughnuts.

He just doesnt like them by the sounds of it!

My cats hated them! I used to buy them a Christmas stocking full of them and end up giving them away.

That parents should have the same problem with their kids...what no treats?? So he doesn't want them...leave it be, not like he's missing out on an important part of his diet.
