I have found 3 different origins with the name wolfe, there is Dutch and there is no data avaliable for this origin. English, it was first found in Cheshire New England in 1709 who were decendants of Hugh Lupus Wolfe the Earl of Chester and Chief subject of King William the Conqueor. Finally in German where they were first found in Rhineland Germany the name emerged in medieval times as one of the notable families of the region. I hope I have helped you out with your family history it's important to know your heritage. good luck
