Are you fed up with people abusing the convenience of cell phones?

The invention of the cell phone definitely has it's advantages, but some people abuse it's convenience. Cell phones going off in movie theaters, during tests, at funerals, etc... Then there are the people that use it like a leash. They give significant others cell phones, and constantly want to know what the other person is doing. Since they know the other person has a cell phone on them, it's impossible to ignore their calls without them becoming offended. That's why I refuse to carry one anymore. Even though it could come in very handy in an emergency, it's worth gambling my life not to put up with the hassle from inconsiderate callers. If they ever found out that I had a cell phone, they would want the number. Everyone wanted to be an exception to the rule that I don't give my cell phone number out to anybody. Is your opinion of cell phones similar to mine ?

Yeah I'm tired of seeing people who at first seem to be talking to themselves.Maybe in a manner of speaking they are talking to thelmselves!Some people have them because god do they think they are important.People just can't live without being able to talk to them 24/7 can they?Maybe they should have a plan just for these types "family and friends" "free evening and weekends "or "narcissists in love with the sound of their own voice plan" All the time you hear people on the bus calling somebody every ten minutes "Yeah I'm at this place now ,I'll call you back.10 min. later "Yeah I'm at this place so what are you doing? ya o.k.bye.10min later I'm almost there o.k?See you in 5.five min.after o.k. I'm here and they get off the bus yacking away.A leash ?I think some of these people need someone to hold their dick while they take a piss for f*ck's sake!Some people try to raise their kids over the cell phone and it's just pathetic and annoying to hear people barking orders to their kids in public.Another complaint :Oh boy! Downloadable ring tones! This has got to be the stupidest thing ever and one of the most annoying.Put the damn thing on silent mode I don't share your taste in stupid ring tones !I mean grow up!It is ******* noise pollution at best.One more thing I've learned about cell phone abusers is that most of them have the absolute dumbest,moronic conversations in the world and have absolutely no life. I almost forgot !Camera phones! Now how could I forget ?Maybe I tried to block it out!In a public washroom watch out for idiots holding their phones high up in the air if you can see one over the stall ,odds are it can take a picture of you .This actually happened to me .If I catch anyone doing this you will be very,very sorry I guarantee it !

Nope. I appreciate the convenience. And I usually remember to turn it off during important situations. (People don't call me that often, anyway!) If people who are dating use the phone as a "leash", that's a relationship problem, not a phone problem. In the area where I live, there are very few pay phones anymore, so it would be hard to go back to not having one. I didn't get a cell phone for a long time after many people I knew had them; I knew that once I got one, it was a lifetime commitment.

By the way, many phone companies have phone plans that have very few minutes, for people who don't want to use the phone except in an emergency.

I can sympathize with your view about cell phones but they really come in handy in an emergency. If I were u, I would get one with very few minutes on it. Keep it turned off in your car or purse. You can always turn it on in an emergency. DON'T TELL PEOPLE YOU HAVE ONE. That would eliminate the "want to be an exception to the rule" because no one will know you have one. Then if someone happens to discover it by accident you can say that you dont even know the number because it doesnt have many minutes and it is only for emergencies.

Absolutely. It's only a leash. And don't worry, if you're ever in an emergency every overeager motorist with a cell phone will rush to pull over to your aid and to show off the newest features on their cell (or at least they do around here).

Resoundingly ...YES! People have come to think they cannot live without a phone at all times and that they are so important that they must be in communication with everyone at all times.

I've heard so many conversations that should only be held in private that I'm absolutely shocked that these things would be discussed in public at all. Is no subject considered not for public ears anymore?

I do so wish we could go back to the days when only doctors carried pagers and everyone else used a payphone. We seemed to be able to live our lives without being in constant communication with everyone we knew. Imagine - we went on dates, to the mall, out to dinner, to church, to the doctor, to work and everywhere else without a leash to connect us to the rest of the world!

I use my cell phone for work mainly. Other than that I probibly wound have a pre paid cell for emergencies only. Cell phones are becomeing a problem. Especially with driving. People can't pay attention.

I also hate the people who are rude enough to bring a cell phone to church or a place of worship. HELLO! Show some respect! My biggest peeve is where John or Jane Doe will be driving and talking on their cell phones not paying attention to what's going on.

Cell phones are great to have. But yes, people cannot even go to a public bathroom without it stuck in their ear. In restaurant they have it stuck in their ear and even ignore the wait person who comes to the table and expects the wait person to just stand there why they yap. I was in a fast food place and there was a man in front of me and he was yapping and the employee was standing there waiting for him to place an order, he could care less that he was holding up the line, I then stepped in front of him and said to the employee since he is tied up on the phone I am going to place my order, I hope he got he point. LOL I could go on all day about it, yes its a hot spot with me as well.

yes, I have a cell phone but I am not one of thoes people that talk on them in grocery store when they are trying to check out or in a restaurant while you are trying to eat. That is just way inappropriate. Come on people just use your cell phone before u get out anywhere or turn it off in a restaurant.

YES!!! It's my biggest pet peeve. I work in a hospital and no cell phones are allowed. But people do not follow the rules, us nurses have to tell them to turn it off, and if they don't comply...I just call security.
