No, id believe it isnt my business to pry into their life..
if you notice fresh scars on a friend etc, then yes, id be speaking to them and asking them if they want to talk about it (because you are concerned for their well being)

Depends on who the person was. If it was someone I knew I might try to talk to them about it. But if it was a person who I didn't know then I probably wouldn't say anything because it would be awkward probably. I might go with my gut in that situation if I really felt that I should say something then I might. I would be concerned about them and I would be supportive of them. Everyone is different and has different needs so I would have to go with what I felt was right at the time for that person.

I work at a fast food restuarant. And I'm a self-injurer (cutter). Everybody seems to feel the need to say "you know what gets me through a hard time....?" "how's life going?" "your not the only one who has it rough...." And, quite frankly, I want to slap them across the face and maybe key their cars.
If it were you, would you want someone you barely know butting into personal, private buisness? A coping skill is a coping skill. Whatever gets someone through teh day should be all anyone needs to worry about.
If it's a friend, or someone you know, ask them wehre they got the scars. If they're old scars, don't worry about it.

How can you be sure they are from cutting themselves? I have scars on my arms and they are not form cutting myself, they are from being scraped by sticks by accident. however if they were scars from cutting themselves, there is not much you can do about it other than try to get them professional help.

If i knew the perosn personnally, I would ask. usually people with low self esteem do that type of thing. If it was a stranger I guess i wouldn't address it cause it could make them want to do something more drastic because of the negitive attention.

these cutters nowadays, with their little slices and the "whoa is me" attitude get on my nerves, its all for the attention, I was a cutter when I was young, I still have a couple nasty scars, but I cut myself as kind of a mental destresser, drawing blood still kind of has an effect on my overall being, its one of the only things I can control
Maybe I'd recommend Mederma for smaller scars, Strivectin for deeper scars

Say nothing. It's like telling a smoker that smoking is bad for them. They know already, and you're not going to stop them with just a little reminder. Action speaks louder than words. Anything else is just going to seem nosy.
