Sorry to know that you stammer. I too stammer a bit now. It used to be more when I was younger. We happen to stammer when we are nervous. We tend to speak faster.

All that you have to do is, talk a bit slowly, think of what you have to speak. Mainly relax, its what you have say that is important.

Some doctors recommend that you practise by putting a few, small, round pebbles in your mouth and practise to speak. Best of luck friend.

There are several ways to overcome shyness and gain confidence . One is to take acting lessons. You may feel really self-conscious at first, but as you keep doing it, you'll find the words just rolling off your tongue. Singing lessons can also help. If neither of these is appealing, you might consider learning a foreign language. the effort to pronounce new sounds seems to help retrain the muscles. Good luck.

The Stuttering Foundation stutteringhelp.org has free books and online videos to help with stuttering. They are compiled by professionals some of who stuttered themselves! They want to help others, not make money off of your condition. The self therapy book is a great one http://www.stutteringhelp.org/sites/default/files/Migrate/book0012_11th_ed.pdf They can also refer you to a good speech therapist who is trained to work with stuttering.

I'm sorry you're experiencing this. I bet it's really frustrating. I recommend that you find a speech pathologist to work with who can help you.
