The Bible practically overflows with such stories from almost every Tom, Dick, and Harry. The messengers of God are even made to be guilty of multiple cases of adultery and worse. Abraham (pbuh) is alleged to be a liar and worse (Genesis 12:13). Noah (pbuh) a drunkard (Genesis 9:21). Lot (pbuh) a drunkard and guilty of incest (Genesis 19:30-38). Solomon (pbuh) a worshipper of idols in his old age (1 Kings 4-9), King David (pbuh) commits adultery with Uriah's wife and then murdered her husband (2 Samuel 11:3-4,15-18), David's son Ammon is guilty of incest and the rape of his half sister (2 Samuel 13:14). Aaron (pbuh) fashions an idol (the golden calf) for the Jews to worship (Exodus 32:1-4), to name but a very few of the many allegations to be found in the current Bible. The Prophets of the Bible are guilty of major crimes, e.g. incest, fornication, drunkenness, nudity, and they were True Prophets!

Would you kindly pray first before you read the Bible? Ask God to give you wisdom to learn His messages. It seemed to me that you read them but you didn't get the right meaning.

Read again and this time meditate..........

These examples you cite were included in the Bible for a reason. They are comforting to those of us who may have previously commit such sins since they show that God is merciful in dealing with us. We need to be repentant when we sin and of course our conscience, if working properly, will bother us when we do fall short. But these examples show the "humanness" of the men who otherwise might cause the downhearted ones to lose all hope thinking that they could never measure up to their examples. I know that many times when I've made mistakes, I've beaten myself up over them. Then when I've turned to the Scriptures, its a heavy burden lifted off of me to know that even those closest to God have made similar mistakes.

The Bible shows them as they were, human. They weren't perfect and didn't pretend to be.

And yet some of the greatest miracles or wonders of the Bible were enacted by men such as these with all of their frailties.

Its not that they had faults. Its that they were able to overcome them. That is the beauty of some of these stories. If they had problems, worked with them, and were able to redeem themselves and become leaders and prophets then maybe, just maybe, I really don't have it all that bad.

The plan of God works.

There it is, all of what man is capable of doing in his depravity and in his enlightenment all wrapped up in the Spirit of God who will work with you IF you ask in sincerity.

To show us that it is not about being perfect but about seeking God's will in your life and repentance.

This was all said so we can see the need for a living sacrifice, Jesus, who died for all our sins. It all is there as a prophecy of Jesus coming.
