What do "Christians" think about dinosaurs, since the bible doesn't talk about them (I think). Explian fossils, and carbon dating that goes further back than the "creation" of earth.

Did any one of you go to a real school at all?

I have to thank you, though, for giving me another opportunity to expose Creationists as the pathetic lying and dishonest scum that they are.

My absolute favorite Creationist bullsh!t lie is about dinosaurs.

One of the Creationists’ most famous arguments for the earth being only 6000+ years old is their claim that there is evidence of human and dinosaur footprints in the same stratigraphic geologic layer in Glen Rose, Texas. Such evidence would, indeed, be difficult, if not impossible, to explain since all other evidence suggests that dinosaurs were extinct for many 10s of million of years prior the appearance of the first hominids. If humans and dinosaurs could be shown to existed contemporaneously, it would be a devastating blow to both geology and biology.

Now, it is true that there are some cool dinosaur footprints near Glen Rose (there is even a Park where the footprints can be viewed by the public.

But what about the footprint that the creationists claim is that made by a human?

As always, they neglect to mention that their ‘alleged’ human footprint measures 18 inches in length;13 inches in width; and 5 inches in thickness. To put this in perspective, a mold cast from it holds over 5 gallons (20 liters) of water. It is, of course another dinosaur footprint – and another creationist lie.

If you still think it was human, you can go make a footprint in the dirt and see how much water it takes to fill it.

As for C14 dating –
1.it does not date anything nearly as old as the dinosaurs,
2.This is not the 1950s, and claims of bogus dates are no longer valid
3.it is not ‘man-made’ – it is ‘nature made’ and we can measure it just as we can measure many things in nature.

Hey micheletm... ---

I am a real scientist who has worked and conducted federally sponsored research in this area. I can speak to this fact as I have (with funding provided by the US National Science Foundation [NSF]) collected and dated (absolutely to the exact calendar year) the physical proxy climate samples that are used to calibrate the radiocarbon curve and, in collaboration with the leading Accelerator Mass Spectrometer (AMS) laboratories (in fact the ones that dated the Shroud of Turin) helped to increase the precision of the curve equation by extending the absolute calibration period back to the very beginning of the Holocene.

Trust me on this – your beliefs about radiocarbon dating (and dinosaurs) could not possibly be more inaccurate. Now, you are certainly entitled to your personal opinions, but it is dishonest of you to discuss these matters and present yourself as educated and informed on the topics when you know that is not the truth. I know, just by reading your post, that you have no education, training, or experience, in these fields of science. And, the people that you are listening to are either equally ill-informed, or they are intentionally lying in order to advance their own related agendas.

Ok I had to come back in and edit this after reading some of the other posts. Seems like a lot of people aren't exactly sure what we believe.
1. Christians, at least not the crazy ones, accept fossils as the real bones of animals who truely lived. In fact there are bones found with muscle and sinew still present that have been found. This supports our beliefs because how could that survive millions or billions of years.

2 Yes some dinosaurs died in the great flood. Most did. So did most of every other animal. And most people. But God said place 2 of each kind, not 2 of each kind except the really big ones so dinosaurs WERE on the ark. But when God said 2 of each kind, it translates to be like 2 of each specie. So think of the dog, hundreds of breeds desended from wolves. Bred to produce certain characteristics. The ark did not have every breed of bird, large cat, horse, chicken, dog, or dinosaur on board. Just a male and female of each species. And since God intended for them to reproduce, wouldn't it make sense that they would be younger? Thus possibly smaller, but even if they were full size, they would fit.

3 Boxer The bible does mention dinosaurs in Job (read your bible Job 40:15-24) they are called a beheamoth and described, it just doesn't call them dinosaurs because the word (which means great lizard) wasn't invented when the bible was written, it came to be coined in 1841 by Dr Richard Owen . The bible also mentions dragons.

4 Bess dinosaurs were created on the 6th day with Adam and Eve and all other land animals. All here together

5 Sifting...seriously who are you trying to reach...that is like telling a Jew the holocoust didn't happen. Fossils are real.

So anyway Tree, here is a link to a great article about dinosaurs...

It is our contention that carbon dating is inacurate. There are newer better ways to test age and those come with results that are consistant with creation.
Here are some links that discuss this better than I could
http://answersingenesis.org/creation/v24/i4/radiometric.asp
http://answersingenesis.org/docs2002/carbon_dating.asp

Hope this helps. Sorry I just gave you links for most of the real info but I thought it would be better coming from scholars and scientists. Thanks for the question.

I think you have to pick and choose which parts of the Bible to put stock in. Most of the early Old Testament is a way to explain the unknown. Most cultures have many similar stories that explain the same things as the Bible does, but the Bible is the more accepted version. I believe that most everyone misses the point that it doesn't matter which version is the correct one, it's the fact that thngs were created at some point by a higher power. All the dates and times and stories are just man's quest for knowledge. It gives people something to argue about.

Friend, I am a Christian, & I have many times answered this question, I believe there was a Prehistoric time frame, & it is in the Bible if People study it & not just read over it, In Gen. 1:28 & Gen.9:1 God told Noah & Adam to Replinish the earth, & replinish means to fill it up again. & also there is a verse, & I don't have it in front of me, My wife is in the other room using my reference studies. But there is a verse that says there are angels that sin that God has chained in hell until the Judgement day & that is why also That THE SAINTS SHALL JUDGE THE WORLD & ANGELS, that is those angels that have been chained. I am sure someone may have those scriptures for you.

Well, between genesis 1:1 and genesis 1:2 there is a big gap of time. So in between those 2 passages, is where your dinosaurs lay. I asked myself this question a few years ago and I realized that there are many things we do not know. God will have the answer and it will seem dumb when we do find out the answer.

C-14 is a method that is very flawed and has be shown to date things to be older than they really are. Dinosaurs are actually modern day lizards that are rather old and since lizard don't stop growing you can only imagine how big they got.

Fossils were created during the flood. Under the enviroment of the theory of evolution, the fossils would have decayed and we would not have the dinosaur craze.

The Bible also calls Dinosaurs dragons. Thus, you are looking at a very new termonoligy for the big lizards.

and the T-Rex said: "Christians believe i used my sharp teeth to grind up fruits and vegetables."

anyway i had a friend tell me that he hat this "theory" that god created the universe with time so that things would just LOOK that way. I cant seem to get across the point that a theory that depends solely on its own words to be true is no theory at all o.0

addendum:
ok yes, C14 dating has been known to produce SOME inaccurate results but NEVER ONCE has it ever produced a result off by anything remotely close to 65 million years

The ones who can not bring themselves to deny the evidence any more start claiming the bible describes dinosaurs exactly. They make up or twist whatever they need to support that claim.
The war against ignorance is a step by step battle.

To the one above me, Job does not describe dinosaurs nor does it say he met any, please read your bible.

Christians say that God 'placed' fossils on Earth to test our faith.

Absolutely crazy.

The bible says dinos walked with man. In job he meats up with a couple dinos. They died off before or near the time of the great flood.
