The Office of Vital Statistics (might be called something else where you are) for your state (or the state the deceased lived/died in) should be able to give you a copy, usually for $10 or less.

It's not a grocery item that you can place the order. In case of a normal death, you have to call the doctor and he/she can write the eath certificate which you have to produce during cremation and then you have to approach the local municipality to obtain the death certificate from the governing body.

You need a coroners report and file it with the county clerks office.
I will take a few days-depending on the size of the city or volume of paperwork they need .
