I don't think diet soda is a great option. If you're drinking it as much as you say you are then you will only make things worse by drinking diet. That stuff is very harmful to your body. Soda itself is bad but if you're gonna have it you might as well have the real stuff.
Here is an idea, let me know what you think. Don't cut it out cold turkey. You'll never make it. Instead, limit yourself. I don't know how many you drink per day but try to cut it. At least cut it in half. Ideally you should just give yourself one a day. Eventually make it so you can have one every other day. Try to cut down this way until you are allowing yourself one a week. Now, you can either try to cut out totally or you can stick to one a week. Look at it as a treat. Soda isn't the best thing but one a week won't be terrible.
Try to increase water intake. Or drink tea--brewed teas, not the bottled or canned stuff that is loaded with sugar.

You need to go to your doc or a mental health counselor to help you taper off your addiction. Perhaps, you have a deficiency in certain minerals, that is why your body can't stop.
Since you've tried stopping on your on & are having difficulties, seek some help.
In the mean time;
try decreasing your soda consumption gradually & replace it with a bottle of water, rather than stopping completely. Do this gradually over time. Soda robs you of minerals.

I gave up Soda when i was a Sophmore in high school. im now a Junior in College. Giving up soda is difficult AT FIRST, when i gave up soda, i had a pretty good headache for a good week because of the lack in sugar i was actually taking in. BUT! heres how i did it, I simply switched from Soda to Iced Tea. its a lot healthier.. and its really good too. us splenda when you drink iced tea. Im now a Junior in College and all i drink is Water.. thats it.. Soda is completely out of my life. and Guess what??? I have lost a total of 75lbs with the help of giving up soda. You can do it, its all about how you View the challenge. let no one detour your plan to success. You can do it.

The High Fructose in substances is the most addictive ever. Just switch to sweet tea and ween off of the soda.

Yes they are very addictive especially when they are "diet".
It's because diet pops has this thing called "aspartame" instead of regular sugar. They are highly addictive just like nicotine and caffeine.
There are many people who is hooked on this and it's not super healthy for you...Consuming too much of anything could be unhealthy and it certainly won't help you to lose your weight.
You just got to stop it...completely. Once you get out of your system, you won't feel that you "need" it. Good luck!

I was so addicted to coca cola, but simply replaced with juices and water. After a while, you will hate soda. It won't taste the same. All i can say is that it will take a lot of disipline in your part.

Switch to coffee. Has the caffine without the sugar. Also coffee is loaded with antioxidants everyone is raving about these days. Short of that ... you may be suffering from OCD ... obsessive/compulsive disorder. In that case you need psychiatric help and meds.

i kno i luv soda to but i only drink diet orange soda. and it fills me up a lot. try drinkin the diet soda. good luck.

its gonna be hard but try getting a whole body cleanse.
clean your colon,kidneys,gallblader,liver. use detox tablets etc.
drink a lot of water and walk 1 hour a day.
this will help you to loose the addiction .
