Here's the context: A guy I know called me the other day & said that we should hang out sometime this week. It was only going to be the two of us.

He said he knew a Chinese restaurant that had a discount on Thursdays, so that's when we should go. I thought it was a lousy Chinese take-out, but no: it was a huge, sprawling fancy Chinese restaurant, the fanciest I'd ever seen.

After we ate, he paid for both of us with his credit card. Then we went to his apartment where we watched a movie on his laptop. Since he lives on the top floor, he also took me to the roof where we saw an enormous paroma of all the surroundings at sunset.

Afterwards, we went bowling, & then he suggested next a karaoke place, but I said I had to go home. Throughout this entire time, there was no kissing/sex whatsoever. He also once said that a relationship between us would be inappropriate, because he's 19 and I'm 17. So I'm confused: was this a date or not? And also, how do you define a "date"?

Sounds like a date to me. He is obviously interested just doesn't want to violate any laws. Remember your still considered a minor by the law. Keep hanging out with him. Just don't expect him to call it a date until you are 18. He put alot of effort into this "hanging out" time. I like him already.

good luck

I would consider that a date... a date doesn't have to involve kissing or sex, especially on the first 3-5 dates. I think he likes you.. and maybe he wants to wait until you turn 18, he seens like a gentlement to me. Just don't have sex with him until you are 18 ok?

What about teens?.... Well I'm 2 years away from 20 so I'm going to answer. I like it when a girl sings for me and cuddles and lays there head on my shoulder.
