Depends on the practice & where they are. Private practice doctors can set their own schedule.
My husband is a trauma surgeon who started out in the ER. I hardly saw him & we did not start a family until he went into a more private type practice. There are times when he is called away in an emergency, but we are use to it & our boys know that it is dad's job to help people. What I hate are girlfriends & wives who KNOW who & what they are marrying, but they still rag their husbands for never being home, blah blah blah!!!! I have our boys, our home, my hobbies & things I enjoy doing, so I just roll with it. My husband is VERY family oriented & is home as much as he can be.
There are types of doctors who never seem to have time for anything but work. It would take a VERY SPECIAL, UNDERSTANDING, INDEPENDENT, SELF SUFFICIENT woman to be able to put up with some of the odd hours or whatever, but like I said.... YOU KNOW WHAT YOU ARE GETTING, so if you are ONLY in it for the name & the money, you will be VERY VERY UNHAPPY!!!!
Personally, I didn't marry my husband for the name or the money, I married him because I wanted his horse & he wouldn't sell him to me....Kidding!!! I wouldn't change a thing about our lives at this point in time....

Depending on the type of doctor some have Xtra' benifits the pay aint bad life is great.

Depends on what type of Doctor you are.
I know many doctors of different types and they all have different problems but, all of them seem to enjoy the profession.
