probably static electricity built up in your body before you touched it while walking on carpet with a high pressure front in the area.. I would hope that if you think its anything other than this that you reported it to the building supervisor..If its a short it could really hurt someone.. If you think it was other than static call the place tomorrow and report it.

It was almost certainly static electricity caused by you walking over plush artificial fibre carpet with rubber soled shoes and then earthing yourself by touching a metal button. Next time it happens, touch the button a second time (without moving your feet) and, if you feel nothing the second time, then that pretty well confirms the static electricity theory.

Cures:
Splash out and buy some leather soled shoes and don't drag your feet.
Let someone else push the button.
Use the stairs
Spray yourself with a water mister.

Do you really think that you were electrically shocked from this elevator?

If so, please contact the management at the hotel and warn them. Otherwise, you may be as liable as them for the next person that gets shocked.

Otherwise, will you please stop asking the same question over and over again?

And, I really doubt that anyone else that received a static shock in an elevator, in Nashville, at a Marriott, is going to rush home to their computer and report it on Yahoo Answers.
