My cousin recently changed from Catholic to Morman and has become very, very weird about everything. Sadly, one of her children has died recently, and I want to support her, understand her, but I do not get her religion.

I'm an atheist raised in the Protestant (Methodist) tradition. All I can say is if you judge a tree by its fruit, I think the Mormons come ahead. Every Mormon person I've ever met has been a very nice person. I've yet to come across any who I would characterize as an unpleasant-to-be-around person.

I guess my only concern with them is that they're not very worldly. I don't mean "worldly" in a Xian sense, I just think they don't get out much and experience the world. They're smart and well-educated, but if you talk long enough, you'll find there's some significant gaps and holes in what many people would consider more cosmopolitan types of experiences. They need to get out more. It makes me concerned that they may not be allowed to read, view or listen to certain things - but I can't be certain.

Mormon's believe in life after death, Jesus, we don't pary to statues or saints which is one of our differences to Catholics. We know that god is a man not a women like some people do. We believe in bapthtizim for the dead and so much more. Don't worry about not getting our religion a lot of people don't understand it and that's why we have missionaries to teach people that want to learn more. You could go to church with her if you wanted to learn more or talk to some missionaries. You don't have to join or anything but try to see what she sees.

I'M MORMON=)

half of these people are here dont know what the heck they are talking about. we belive in Christ, God, and that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God. theres nothing to supporting your cousin, we believe in heaven just like every one else. just treat how how you would treat any person who has just lost a loved one, with kindness and compassion. just be there for her. o yeah, we dont practice poligamy!! we dont have any problems with black people. it's a poly-racial religion and for every one. we do NOT believe in the trinity or whatever it is. gosh, the crazy ideas people come up with... gosh! it's just pathetic that people waste thier time trying to come up with all these lies and rumors. some people really just need lives. sorry, i had to let that out lol

She is probably not grieving as the typical Christian would because she knows her 7 year old child was pure and innocent and has gone to live with her Father in Heaven.

I advice to you is to listen to her, help her as you would anyone who has lost a child, and tell her how her Heavenly Father loves her and will take care of her child.

i am a member of the church of Jesus Christ of latter day saints. to the world aka: Mormon. there is so much to our religion that takes a lot of time to fully understand what we believe. you said your cousin had a death in the family. I'm sorry to hear that. we believe that there is life after death & families can be forever and won't stop after death. i'd imagine your cousin believes in the truth of that. she may seem weird to you right now because she is sacrificing a lot to live church standards and church doctrines. so by her righteous decisions she has a chance of seeing her baby again.

Here.
I am not a morman but rather than watch something on You tube, (where we all know everything is accurate *sighs*) this appears on an LDS website.

Articles of Faith
1st We believe in God, the Eternal Father, and in His Son, Jesus Christ, and in the Holy Ghost.

2nd We believe that men will be punished for their own sins, and not for Adam's transgression.

3rd We believe that through the atonement of Christ, all mankind may be saved, by obedience to the laws and ordinances of the Gospel.

4th We believe that the first principles and ordinances of the Gospel are: first, Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ; second, Repentance; third, Baptism by immersion for the remission of sins; fourth, Laying on of hands for the gift of the Holy Ghost.

5th We believe that a man must be called of God, by prophecy, and by the laying on of hands by those who are in authority, to preach the Gospel and administer in the ordinances thereof.

6th We believe in the same organization that existed in the Primitive Church, namely, apostles, prophets, pastors, teachers, evangelists, and so forth.

7th We believe in the gift of tongues, prophecy, revelation, visions, healing, interpretation of tongues, and so forth.

8th We believe the Bible to be the word of God as far as it is translated correctly; we also believe the Book of Mormon to be the word of God.

9th We believe all that God has revealed, all that He does now reveal, and we believe that He will yet reveal many great and important things pertaining to the Kingdom of God.

10th We believe in the literal gathering of Israel and in the restoration of the Ten Tribes; that Zion (the New Jerusalem) will be built upon the American continent; that Christ will reign personally upon the earth; and, that the earth will be renewed and receive its paradisiacal glory.

11th We claim the privilege of worshiping Almighty God according to the dictates of our own conscience, and allow all men the same privilege, let them worship how, where, or what they may.

12th We believe in being subject to kings, presidents, rulers, and magistrates, in obeying, honoring, and sustaining the law.

13th We believe in being honest, true, chaste, benevolent, virtuous, and in doing good to all men; indeed, we may say that we follow the admonition of Paul-We believe all things, we hope all things, we have endured many things, and hope to be able to endure all things. If there is anything virtuous, lovely, or of good report or praiseworthy, we seek after these things.

Mormons follow the Book of Mormon and the Bible. Their book includes many rules and other things that contradict the Bible, (it's strange). My friends is mormon and she has told me many other details, but I can't remember any in paticular.

Oh yes- they believe in God and Jesus, but they put their own book in front of the Bible.
