okay, my hair is a few inches below my shoulders, and I want to grow it longer... but at the same time, I want to take some of the weight off because my hair is "heavy". Do you think I should ask the hairstylist to add layers near the top witha razor? what should i ask for?!?!

A good stylist can remove some of the 'weight' by using a thinning scissors. Talk with the stylist about the look you want to achieve. If thick hair is a problem for you they will be able to take care of it. Thinning takes nothing off the overall length, so you can still go with layers if you wish. Sometimes this technique is used to add volume to long hair.

Yes! you should ask your hairstylist to cut and add layers near the top of your head using razor. You should also let her add layers at the middle portion of your hair. Use aloe vera shampoo to help your hair grow longer faster. Always use conditioner to make you hair smooth and light. If you want your hair to be limp use Head and Shoulders plus conditioner! If your hair still feels heavy. Have it rebond. My girlfriend is a hairsylist . Believe me! it works!

NO! layers adds thickness and makes hair appear much fuller. You can try getting it professionally thinned though it makes hair curl more. Try one length with side bangs for a stylish touch.

It would probably be beautiful layered. You could just ask them to thin it. You might have to have it thinned quite often to keep the weight of it down.

My hair is really thick also, they have these special "thinner" scissors that thin your hair without taking off any length, i would ask them to use that, it worked on my hair. I'm sure every salon has one. Ask them to just thin your hair.
