yes there is a genetic component but several causes:
overgrowth of bacteria producing acne
overproduction of sebum (oil)
cells lining pores abnormal so pores clog

hormones (androgens) aggravate acne so your face may break out at certain times of the month.

Some people have acne others dont Thats something to do with the chemicals and homornes in the body acid foods and oily foods spread more acne

Genetics mostly. You can be the cleanest person in the world and still have severe acne.
