I think your cat has an upper respiratory infection. You need to give him an antibiotics to control secondary bacterial infection because sometimes this respiratory infection are more pathogenic to those who have weakened immune system. Maybe the vet you have been to is not knowlegeable enough of cat diseases. (maybe he's a large animal practitioner or just a not well informed vet).
Regarding Feline Aids, this disease is often acquired thru cat fight or inhereted from parent if the mother was infected when she gave birth to him. Seldom this is sexually transmitted.
Even cats with Feline Aids, they get well if they are being treated. With the right care and medication, this cat has still a good chance to live. Why not find a good veterinary hospital? They differ a lot.

if your vet could not diagnose he is an idiot. if you think feline FIV or feline AIDS is because your cat is gay then your also an idiot. i work in a vet's office and i can tell you what it most probably is, but of course you need to go to the vet. (i almost do not believe that you went coz this is diagnosable by a first year student and even without diagnoses they would have gave preventative med.s) but if you really did go, please go to a different one. It is probably an upper respiratory infection called rhinoticinitus. a common infection very curable, but can be fatal without treatment. or it could be allergies. I do not understand why you would not have your pet tested for any possible disease. I feel like I am wasting my time writing this, because if you really cared you would have had a battery of tests, and certainly got a second opinion by now.

First off cats do not get AIDS because they are homo's. I dont know where u came up with that load?
But anyway. My cat was going tho the same thing kidna. I took her to the vets and she had an upper resporitory infection as well as kitty asthma. She is now on steroids as well as an inhailer.
You need to take your cat to another vet or give it away to someone who will. Medical problems and animals can get expensive and if you are not going to take care of it then find someone who will.

First of all, cats do not get kitty AIDS becuase they are homo. And there are no homo cats. Immune deficiency disease is caused by a virus which can be picked up from the environment. To build up your cat's strength, give him some vit. C (50 - 100mg) crushed and mixed into his favorite wet canned food. Put a tablespoon of water in the cat food mix too so that he gets enough water in case he wont drink on his own.

For any health care concerns--for you, your family, your pets--you need to educate yourself as much as possible and be an advocate. That means writing down notes at the vet's or asking the vet to write instructions or diagnoses down ("influenza or whatever they call it"???); getting a second opinion; or being creative (within the bounds of safety--trying different food, cleaning water dish, etc.); and taking notes on exactly what your cat is doing and when. You didn't say if your cat is eating, drinking, sleeping, playing, peeing, pooping normally.

Sounds to me like your cat could be allergic to homophobia. Or maybe your cat's a heroin addict or a prostitute. :-)

The fact that he's getting weak is not a good sign. I'd take him back to the vet...or take him to a different vet. I've taken my cat to the vet and been told the same thing you have and taken her back a few days later and the vet has been able to pintoint the problem. Good luck with your "four-legged child".

Did the vet check him for diabetes?
Insofar as aids, if you've been keeping his shots up to date, there's no reason for him to have it or kitty leukemia. If you have a pet, you have to be willing to spend the money to find out what's wrong, just like you would a child.
