I've been having pressure in my chest, and my blood pressure shoots up sky high, way over 100 on the bottom number. And my heart races and feels like it's going to pound out of my chest. Now, I'm feeling a tightness between my shoulder blades, and a little pressure pain in my arms and the back of my neck.

It started over a week ago, while I was laying down, trying to go to sleep. I felt this pressure in my chest, and the only thing that made it go away was to sit up. So I went and sat on the couch and slept sitting up. It has progressively gotten worse to where I can't lay down at all to sleep. I have to cat-nap sitting up in a chair.

The funny thing is, when I get these spells, the thing that makes them sort-of go away, is to sit at my computer and read something or play a game. Then my blood pressure goes back down.

Lately, like tonight, it hits me right after eating.

I know what this sounds like, but I'm wondering what else it might be?

should have included your age and previous history. you could have acid reflux, angina, chf, or something else entirely. you should go see your primary care doc and let him know what is going on so he could start you on some meds to curb the symptoms. if it goes untreated you could have a big heart attack one day and that would pretty much suck

It's impossible to tell you what the symptoms mean really. I'm not a doctor, and I don't know your background.
My blood pressure is high too though. I get that pain in my shoulder blades also. I think some of that is stress.
The stress also messes with my stomach. And sometimes I get heartburn. I feel that near my chest sometimes.
I get freaked out sometimes and I think it's something serious, but during my last check-up I was okay.
So maybe you just get stressed out, but it could be something worse. You should get a check-up though, and talk to a real doctor. If it is your heart, you won't want to let it go for too long.
