I was backing out of a parking lot and bumped into another car. There was no damage to my car, but damage to her car. The car I was driving was my dad's and I am not covered under his insurance. The woman whose car I hit contacted her insurance company and they said they would pay for the damage, but they were going to contact my insurance company to pay the deductible. They said that I could pay the deductible if I wanted and they didn't think that my insurance company would know. I was not issued a ticket or anything and there was no police report. If i just pay the deductible, will my insurance be affected in the future?

First off, you are covered under your dad's insurance as a "permissive use" driver. Unless he specifically has you on his policy as an "excluded driver" anyone can drive his car with permission and be covered under the policy. So you are insured for the accident.

Second, the insurance company doesn't want just the deductable back. They want the whole amount that they paid. They will call your dad's insurance company who will pay the entire amount (deductable included). You do not pay anything, unless the damages are above your coverage (you did $15,000 worth of damage and you only have $10,000 in coverage, you can be personally on the hook for the remaining $5000) but this probably isn't likely since it seems like a minor accident.

Third, let's say the damage is $700. Why would you want to pay that rather than have your insurance pay it? If your rates go up $100 per year, it will take 7 years to pay what you would have to pay today.

If you were at fault, her insurance company is going to go after YOU for the whole bill, NOT just her deductible. If you live in your dad's household and are not on the policy as an authorized driver, the whole enchilada may come out of his (or your) pocket. If you don't live in his household you do NOT need to be on his policy for it to cover the damage.

Whether or not a citation was issued has NO bearing on the insurance company's finding of fault.

Correction: her insurance company is going to contact YOUR company and request payment for the entire amount. Her deductible will be returned to her out of that amount. You either pay it all now or later, dear.

If there was a police report or a citation issued then yes. Otherwise no.
