That is so sad. Just keep showing the cat a lot of attention and try to get it to play with those fishing poles for cats that you dangle around for it to pounce on. Since they are night hunters, she may be more willing to engage in such play with you in the early evening. Eventually, she will no longer be depressed. Our cats like catnip. You can fill an old sock with catnip tying it at the top and let her play with it. Always put it in a sealed bag after play in order to maintain its freshness.

Go to the shelter and adopt a daschund.

He'll grow out of it eventually if there are no underlying medical problems. Just carry him around in your arms now and again; distract him with play and treats. Cats do greive when they lose a freind... but like us, the urge to survive and go on becomes stronger than the grief in time... but you can help him along by lavishing affection and attenton for now.

i had the same problem with my cat, i got her from a family friend, and she wasnt used to my house, and at her old house, she had another cat to play with. i went shopping, got her some toys, and when i got home, i sat her in my lap and showed her each toy and how it worked, then set them on the floor for her to play with. she was amused for a couple hours. she even loved the paper bag all her new toys came in. after a couple weeks, she came around, and is happy as ever.

Maybe buy another cat or perhaps get your cat a cat playhouse. Or some toys.
