Get a good moisturizer. My boyfriend had dandruff until he started using my products like Alterna. Make sure to really lather and massage the scalp while shampooing and conditioning.

You can't cure it, I'm sorry your stuck with it for life. But it's not that difficult to manage. Use Nizoral twice a week (once available by precription only, now otc). It's about $12 but a miracle worker. I wash my hair almost everyday so in between washings with Nizoral I also use Garnier Fruitis Dandruff Control and I have no flakes. I promise if you use the Nizoral a couple times a week you won't have any more problems. Good luck & Happy New Year.

* Message your hair with hot oil and a few drops of lemon juice.
* Keep your scalp very clean by washing it at least twice a week.
* Do not apply oil "after" washing it.
* If you are in India, buy "nizral" shampoo. It has "ketaconzole". In US, the same thing is available as "nizoral". Secondly, also, buy a "coal-tar" shampoo. In US, "T/Gel" is a good brand. In India, you can buy one from any chemist shop. Once in a week, wash hair with nizoral, and the next time wash with coal-tar shampoo. By using these two types of shampoo combination, you will get rid of many types of infection causing agents.
* Change your towel, pillow covers regularly. The comb you used should be washed regularly.

Talk to a professional about how to moisturize your scalp. If you don't want to do that, you can try using olive oil before the shampoo, and let it sit a few minutes, but you have to wash it out well or your hair will be greasy. It might also help to take colder showers. Hot water definitely would make the situation worse.

Try Selsum Blue Salon because it gives you the anti-dandruff formula with the salon quality haircare. If that still doesn't work, and it is severe, than i would suggest that you see a dermatologist. My aunt has a bad case of dandruff, and she has to have special prescription from the dermatologist.

wear colors aside from black... if you wear black too much, the dandruff is alot more noticable because it falls on your black shirt, and contrasts. That's the closest thing aside from Head and shoulders.
