first of all, how old are you. maybe you are too young and just need to wait until you are more mature and more capable of a mature relationship.
if you are old enough and mature enough to be in a sexual relationship, you may just need to make sex more "normal" for you.
knowledge is power and the more you know about a subject, the more comfortable you will feel about it.
get a subscription to cosmopolitan magazine and go on their web site for good articles on sex.
go to a book store and buy some basic books on how to have sex, how to please yourself and your lover.
buy some sexy "romance novels." the nice thing about the book store is you can preview the books before you buy to find something that suits you.
you might get lucky and meet a nice guy at your bookstore.
think of all the neat stuff you could learn together.
PLEASE be careful about using alcohol as a crutch. a drink or two to relax is one thing, but losing control is a very bad thing.

some people have different approaches to sex. Don't feel bad about being shy about it - people are different, people mature differently and develop their ideas on sex at different times. If you feel shy, then it's okay. You'll grow into your ideas and you'll overcome it someday. I don't know if there's a specific way you can overcome...maybe you'll be given an oppurtunity in which you can face this shy-ness...("oppurtunity" not meaning sex...) i mean, what if you meet the "girl of your dreams" and she makes you feel comfortable to be around her - maybe she'll change your attitude and shyness about sex - anyway, good luck!

Hookers. *kiddin* Dunno if it'll work for ya, but nudist/naturist beaches or clubs could be an avenue to work on body acceptance. It's NOT a sexual experience there, believe me. (surprised me too.) but the simple act of being nude in front of other nude people, and have em not seem to notice... And you'll get a frame of reference to counteract the hollywood stereotype. Most people DON'T look like that. (dammit) And, ya could just put the issue out when it comes up in conversations. You'll have better chances of someone makin a point that nobody else thought of. And it'll make gals aware of it. Maybe they'll help, maybe not. lol but you'll also glean THEIR take on it.
Tackle it head on, in other words. (no pun intended)

Everyone is a bit shy at first (and those that say that they weren't is lieing) take it slowly get to know your partner and let things take their course and before you know it you will be enjoying sex without the shyness factor coming into play.

you shouldn't be embarrassed. if the girl you are with really cares, then it should be ok to go slow. me and my guy were together almost a yr before we had sex. it was both of our first and it wasn't 'majical', but it was romantic and intimate. don't go offf the tv shows and porn, the first time is a little ackward for both of you.
let her lead if you feel you are too shy. some girls like to lead

If someone is with you and they're indicating they want sex with you then, there is nothing to be embarrassed about or shy about anymore. They want you, you want them and you get together like that. It's all good.

This sounds like a joke but it isn't.....alcohol. Don't get sloppy, but a nice buzz will give you confidence and help you perform better and go longer.
Careful not to pass out after!
