Any one who bothers to RSVP to an invitation should show up unless they have some sort of an emergency...I would say lean on 100% of your RSVP people to show up...........

Not a good idea - when it comes to weddings, unless your guest list includes a lot of people you aren't close to - the turn out is usually nearly 100%. You may get a few no shows, but very unlikely that 20 people won't show out of only 140. A

If you are worried about how many guests will actually come consider out of town guests, elderly guests and those that haven't really shown any interest in other occasions before. Think carefully and i am sure you will remember who is unlikely to attend but would appreciate an invitation all the same. i make wedding cakes for a living , graduated with a degree, and normally 1/2 show up for the reception. so if you are planning 100 guest for the ceremony, ask them to rsvp to both, ceremony and reception. plan for 60-70people at the reception. worst that can happen is you run out of food. you don't want leftovers, cause you don't get to keep the food and you still pay for it

I would say unfortunately it could go both ways. You will have people that RSVP and don't come, then you'll get those that don't RSVP and do come. It is such a shell game when it comes to getting the numbers correct. I say plan for the few extra, more food and drinks is better than not enough.
