If I have a glass of water, my cat fights me beacuse she wants it. If I leave the toilet lid down, she sits there until I open it so she can get a drink. I fill her water bowl everyday with fresh water but she WILL NOT drink from it. Why does she do this and how can I get her to stop? Its driving me crazy. I almost have to get cups with lids so she will leave mine alone! lol I love her but shes a nut!

there could be a couple reasons....the glass, it might be that she views it as hers (much like you are hers and she loves you) and the toilet is usually fresh. my cats like the "fish soup" they like to drink from the filter of the fish tank. luckily i have a 30 gallon tank so they dont knock it over. but i also have a male cat that will drink the bathwater, but only if someones in the tub too!! cats are very easy to spoil, i have a kitty door that we installed in the window but they would rather have the front door opened for them. good luck! my momma cat still has to have a taste of whatever ive got ( shes 4)

The water in the water bowl may be fresh at the begining of the day, but not at the end. Also, cats like cold water. The water in her dish is no doubt room temp within an hour or so. My cats figured out how to use the water cooler to make a big mess all over the floor so they could have fresh, cold water. I bought a kitty water fountain (a little thing that circulates and cools the water all day) and that solved the problem.

Our cats drink out of the toilet to. They like water that was/is running. Yes it would be good to get a cat fountain.

Its the freshness of the water. If they can hear it they will want to drink it. My cat would do it all the time except she would want me to leave the faucet running for her. To get her to stop I would say to just keep a lid on everything or blow gently in her face.

it somewhat is large substantial that cats get sufficient water and oftentimes, they don't get sufficient water (so they get urinary tract infections, and so on). The cat probably likes the rest room bowl water as a results of fact it somewhat is cool and specific extra sparkling than the water you place next to the nutrition bowl as quickly as an afternoon. i think of there are 2 recommendations: a million. shop your rest room bowl large sparkling; or 2. get a sort of puppy fountain issues from the puppy shop. they generally have a filter out in them and the water runs continuously so it keeps to be quite sparkling. they are not too costly the two, i've got look some at Petco, and so on. for $20 or so. my cats love the puppy fountain (yet one in each and every of them does nevertheless on occasion drink out of the rest room).

Cats prefer to have their water far from their food. She likes your glass and the toilet because they're not right on top of her food. If you gave her a bowl of water in another room, she'd probably use it.

I tried the fountain. It worked for a few days and she was right back to the toilet.

Territory. its theres, everything is theres. Also it is like marking their spot. A cat has favorites, food, person. sleeping place. Think you may own a cat that loves the couch, and another who lives for the windowsill. same goes for drinking locale. He likes the tub and another wants your glass.
