the past 3 months have been very difficult, I lost my job and have been looking for work for a month and a half. My girlfriend and I have been having a frusturating time for the past 6 months. Now we are at a put where I'm sleeping on the couch for the past 2 weeks and shes talking every night on the phone to some guy form Colorado, that she used to know from high school. She said that she now wants to be friends.
I know I want her back, the way it was before. Can you give me any advice on how to get her back

Get your act together. What do you think made her want you in the first place? Think about what she wants in a boyfriend. Are you that? Work on getting a job, there are lots of jobs, think about a career. Are there jobs that can help you get a better one by getting experience? Be your best. If she liked you once, she will probably like the best you, you can be.

Even if you get her back, it will be temporary. It's not fair to either of you to get back together just to break up. Why waste that time? Whatever has made your relationship difficult for the past 3 months... will be a problem again in the future. Please accept what she wishes and work on getting yourself a new job and taking care of YOU and then a new gf will come into your life that you will be more compatible with. As the old saying goes... Everything happens for a reason.

Looking for jobs these days can be frustrating. I completely understand that. Try a headhunter...try your local unemployment office...they are very good places to help you obtain a job, especially if you are sincere and are actively looking to get one.

As for your gf, I am sorry to say, she is trying to move on--hard. I realize that I don't fully know the entire situation, such as...have you really been actively looking for a job--full-time, every day? I know that looking for a job can be extremely stressful and frustrating (hang in there and keep looking!!). She may be viewing you as a slouch--don't know. Hypothetical question, why are you on the couch?? You can never have it back as it was before...you can only move forward and change things toward the better....one is, you might have to get that job, move out and let her go.

You need to tslk to her and tell her how you feel. Also, stop sleeping on the couch cause that sure as hell aint gonna help. And if she really wants to be with you, then she wouldnt be talking to this other guy every night so ya might wanna say somethin bout that too. Goodluck

Dude, if you're paying the rent, she should be sleeping on the couch. If she's paying the rent, be nice to her. As for getting her back: Don't bother. Let her go ... or better yet ... go yourself. Keep in touch with her, but don't center your life around a relationship that is obviously over. Get on with it. And choose to be happy.

Josh,
I hate to say it, but sometimes things just slip away and you have no choice but to take what you can from the situation and move on. It's uncomfortable but time makes things easier and will clear things up.. Whatever is supposed to happen, will happen.
