Some may find this amusing but it's serious. :) in a toothy wauy.

I was visiting my folks and yesterday saw my Dad cleaning my grandmother's dentures with my toothbrush ,which he had mistaken for an old replaceable one he thought no one used (it's very retro) Upon confronting him, he apologized and admitted he had been cleaning the dentures for 2 weeks (eww!). Now I am picky with things and really want this toothbrush, is there some way i can clean it with disinfectant solution or something?

or just get a new one? (the same one is hard to find).

Lol everyone is telling me to buy a new one HAHA! NO cheapskate here, this one is a 60s retro one, hence hard to find, and 'looks's old but I only got it a month ago . only reason I asked ,new one isn't a problem (though it's not the same) and yes i do know toothbrushes need changing every few months, and for those wondering- (dont read if squeamish) - yes I did use it after my dad used it. he didnt know anyone was using it, neither did i.

lol , i dont want to think about it.

I dont really think that is all that gross. Just run it under some hot water for a bit. You've already been using it a lot. And it hasn't killed you. Did it taste any different in your mouth? No. Did you have any clue it had been tampered with? No. So whats the big deal. People get so germaphobic nowadays.

What kinda creeps me out though is the fact that you are using some vintage toothbrush. Dude get with the times. it's all about oral b. You need those neat shaped toothbrushes with the rubber to massage your gums. That's where it's at

So either stop stressing about stuff you cant even see. Or buy yourself a decent quality toothbrush and enjoy brushing!

Good Luck

If your toothbrush looked old than maybe you should not been using it anyway. Every month I change my toothbrush but the best way to clean it is disinfect it with disinfect and bleach or don't be cheap just buy another. A good toothbrush don't cost anymore than 3-5 dollars. Come on

Well, you seem quite attached to this particular toothbrush, so I guess you aren't willing to give it up and get a new one. I find that to be so funny! Anyway, maybe boil a small pot of water and stick it in there. That should kill most of the germs safely, because you don't want to be using chemicals on the thing you're going to be sticking in your mouth for the next few months! That's all I can think of. Oh, and find a safer spot for your toothbrush since it's so precious! :D

I would absolutely buy a new one, even if I couldn't get the same thing as I had before. Heating it, boiling it, cleaning chemicals, or anything else you could do may not necessarily guarantee that you have hygenically cleaned it and also such actions many diminish the integrity and the effectiveness of the toothbrush.

Toothbrushes are meant to be replaced every 2-3 months so just go out and by a new one.

Well, it depends on the material of that brush..if it's made of natural brush, you should get a new immediately..if not, you could put it in some disinfectioning liquid for at least 1 hour..wouldn't recommend it..I couldn't stand the thought it was used for a denture!

If you already used it after your father did, then whats the difference. If there was anything there to be caught or whatever, its done. If you are really that attached with your retro toothbrush then carry-on. You wouldn't have ever know had you not walked in anyhow.

Buy a new one. Go on the web and see where they sell that brand.
Everyone should get a new tooth brush ever so many months anyway. Like every 4 or 5 months??

You can try and put in the dishwasher or try boil it. Personally, I would just buy another one. You should only use a toothbrush for about 3 months anyway. Don't forget to floss.

Here's an idea: why not buy a new clean brush to use, but keep your old one as a collectible? If someone were to use my toothbrush, even by accident, I'd just toss it out because that's just gross to share brushes.
