Ok, I cleaned a friend of mines house a couple of days ago, while I was sweeping a kind of dark hallway and noticed mouse poop in the pile when I was done. I freaked out and started researching mice and their diseases and found Hanta Virus is the number one. I cant find the statistics for my state anywhere...
So I guess my question would be,
DO ALL mice carry this?? The house was in East Texas.
Also wondering do I need to go get tested for this before it gets out of control.. If I indeed have it
thanks!

Not all mouse droppings are infected by hanta virus and if the droppings were old, the virus is probably dead. There is no way to know whether or not you were exposed to hanta virus, but the odds of contracting hanta virus from a couple of droppings is very small. If you still have the trash with the droppings, there might be somewhere in your state to get it tested. Probably the best thing to do at this point is to pay attention to any flu-like symptoms, get to the doc immediately if they arise, and be sure to tell the doc you may have been exposed to hanta virus.

Hanta virus symptoms would not arise for several days after exposure, so any chest feelings were not caused by hanta virus.
