I have heard stories of Lilith, the first wife of Adam who was thrown out of eden because she wanted to be an equal to Adam. (you go girl!) Anyway, I think I'd like a religion based on her, so I'm gonna create a church. Would you join?

Cool! Thanks for all the answers so far!
For more information: I'd base it on spiritualism with teachings of the Kabbalah added. It would be obviously female based. I don't think I'd stick with a lot of scripture, too much fighting when words are worshiped.

I welcome friendly comments in email.

Lilith is a cool character! I mean she actually had the guts to leave a man because SHE wanted to be on top. HA!
Unfortunately, I kind of am involved with Chabbad which is a pretty Orthodox Jewish organization...looks like I'm the Eve in this story! :(

Now why would anyone start a religion? If it starts by someone, how can it be true? Wouldn't the following of such a religion be folly?

You have to realize that Eve, the wife of Adam according to the bible, is not lower than Adam but equal, if not even beter. The bible called Eve a "helper" of Adam. This word was the closest english translation for a very honoring role. "Helper" sounds a little degrating, but that is not what Moses (The author of Genesis) had meant.

why would you do that? believing in the story of Adam and Eve (and apparently Lilith as well) is an acknowldgement in itself of a god who deserves to be worshipped more than Lilith. And if this god banned lilith for trying to be equal then a clear way to worship
him would be to admit women are not equal to men.

I love the story of Lilith, just like I love all mythology for the purposes of entertainment.

I have no interest in following any religion. When I look at all of my options, including yours, I choose 'none of the above'. Thanks anyhow. Have fun with that.

Have you read the Lucifer comic books? Lilith plays a starring role.

Ok so what's your plan? What are the basic beliefs of your religion? Do you realize, there is already one out there?

You haven't decribed how it works. More info. How prepared are you to start a religion? Do you just want the tax deductions? Already been done.

There are a few interesting ideas based on that out there, though I don't think a proper church...certainly something worth exploring.

What about these false stories intrigues you? Maybe you should follow that intrigue directly rather than indirectly pursuing a false tale.
