My chi will go outside to pee. He still has a pad in the house in case he has to go when I'm not home but he REFUSES to go poop where he goes outside to pee. He will either poop in the house (not on the pad) or I will have to walk him to get him to poop. If he poops in the same place more than three times he will not go anywhere near that area again. I really need to get him to poop when he goes out to pee.

Some dogs are just plain weird like that. Some only pee in one area and poop in another. Try leaving him out longer if possible. And you may have to pick up the poop that has accumulated. Good luck with that

It may be because of the weather. With your chi, you have to be aware that they get cold fast. You may have to stick with him and just make him stay out until he poops. As soon as he poops outside, praise him a LOT and take him immediately inside. He will come to associate pooping outside with going back inside and he'll get faster at it.

You may also want to pick up his old poop so he doesn't have an aversion to any particular area. Maybe he has a sensitive nose?
