TRY TO CASH IT AT YOUR BANK & SEE WHAT COMES ABOUT. ALSO GO TO YOUR EMPLOYER REP. & TELL THEM LIKE IT IS. SIMPLE!

No, Katlin, the bank will accept the check for deposit. Often, they do not look closely at the spelling. Errors occur occasionally. But if you deposit the check, endorse the back with your correct signature, and put "For Deposit Only ...Account # ............(listing the correct account number for your savings or checking account),and sign it, the check will go through without any problems. The computer checks the deposit slip number corresponds with the number on the back of the check, and credits your account.

In the meantime, check with your employer to make sure that they have the correct spelling of your name for purposes of future checks, and reporting to fed and state tax withholding, etc.

Have a great New Year. John B.

You shouldn't have a problem. Just sign the check 'for deposit only' and put your account number on it. If someone asks there at the bank, point out that it's just a typo on your name, the last name should be the same, as well as your address on the check (if your job issues checks with your home address on it, every job I've had does that), those should match with your account info at the bank. Then just make sure they fix it for your next check. I've had people misspell my first name before and my bank's taken it without a problem.

If the employees know you at the bank you stand a good chance of getting it cashed.

If you have a standing realtionship with the bank it should not be a problem but make sure to get this fixed with H.R. or your payroll department.
