I'm still waiting for a valid, literalist response.
I was told to read Leviscious and killing was otherwise justified to me, I even was told, by someone who obviously did not read a thing I had written, that it was not a perfect translation.
I repeat.
If your Bible is not a perfect translation, then it is flawed and the work of Men.
Is 'Thou Shalt Not Kill' an imperfect translation or is Capital Punishment in direct violation of the Commandments?
Quoting passages that validate killing under certian circumstances is only contradictory and further weakens your argument.
Solve for X. :)

No, Julie.
If you idiots want to run around killing eachother, I'm fine with that. Really, humans have been doing it forever and I'm not under any impression they're going to stop.
It was a pretty simple question and I don't see the need for you to be facitious with me about it. I don't think it's very Christian of you to say such things.
My question indicates firmiliarity with your Biblical texts while your response indicates that you haven't really taken to heart the teachings of your own Jesus.
Maybe you're the one who needs to read more.

Capital Punishment is in direct violation of the Commandments.
My example is Paul....he was killing every Christian in sight but changed when the Spirit touched Him. He wound up being an author of 13 NT books and the most comitted vessel of G-d the world may have ever seen.
Message? Never give up on anyone. Its over when G-d says its over, not when men do.

Killing is/can be justified in the bible. From a legal case, a murderer can be tried and put to death, if a person kills a woman and or kills the un-born infant, ( which by the way justifies a fetus as a human being by the way), that person can be put to death as well. Also in a court if a person accidentally kills someone, that person may be put to death also. These are some examples.
So according to Gods laws, there has to be a legal case with witnesses in order for elders to convict and then if the case meets the crime, would merit death.
This case also was justified when the nation of Israel killed other nations which included men, women, children, and even livestock. Reason was these nations were committing gross sins, included rape, adultery, homosexuality and other things which God had made repeated warnings, and they chose to ignore God. Those nations, were destroyed, this included Gods own nation Israel.

Well, as pointed out by Atheists, the US is not a REligious nation nor a Christian nation. Hence we can execute and abort with no religous moral qualms.
We are blessed with the fact that many lawmakers who might go to Church, don't let that influence their voting on things of law. The same with Judges.
Atheists, who always talk about how persecuted they are in America, should remember that Lawmakers and Judges DON'T ALWAYS follow their CHURCH or RELIGION when making a law or judgement. SOME, certainly do, but a majority DO NOT.
They don't let religion totally or sometimes partially affect their standings on points that affect EVERYONE.

the thought that a translation incorporates extra weight than the source text textile is faulty. I won't dispute that some fundies have faith that the King James version is divinely inspired, yet I even have in no way met a Christian, fundamentalist or different clever, who does not admit the barriers of all translations. a extra constructive question would be this: How can the Bible be inerrant if it the unique manuscripts do no longer comprise a table of contents?

The logical fallacy of overgeneralized analogies will cause this kind of confusion every time.
There are many terms for one person's taking the life of another. Depending on the context in which it occurs, for example, we might choose "murder," "capital punishment," "war," "friendly fire," "physician-assisted suicide," "gross negligence," etc. In most legal systems there are varying degrees of punishment (or no punishment at all) depending on the context in which it occurs. To call every instance "murder" no matter what the context is to overgeneralize. Overgeneralizing doesn't solve the real problems that tick you off about these things, now does it?

If capital punishment is against biblical teaching then the solution for x is to let an atheist throw the switch, open the trap door, inject the solution, fire the gun, cast the first stone, etc.

Capital punishment is condemned by a single commandment, but encouraged in other places in the Bible. One contradiction after the next!

You can use to Bible to prove any point you want. Unfortunately, most people don't even begin to understand the spirit of the Bible itself and use it to justify their own wrongdoings. They'll be judged for relishing in the death of others just as those who kill will be.

If John kills Davids son and David kills John that is called vengeance. Now lets Say David attends Johns court hearing and pleads with the court to not to take the life of his sons killer...thats called mercy. Further on lets say John gets out of prison and David takes him in and treats him as his own child...thats called Grace....it seems unfathomable but this what God does when you accept Jesus Christ.

I take it you are a little upset that Saddam was hanged? I suggest instead of asking others, you read God's entire Word and pray for an answer.
