that he wasn't drunk
DUI is driving under the influence, which means it can be anything from alcohol to driving while being high, or under the influence of medicine (prescribed or non prescription) that impairs one's driving ability (usually there are WARNING labels on the product to tell you NOT TO DRIVE). Breathalizer only measures for being drunk. A blood test will test for whatever else he could be on or have taken.

Last question first...0.00g/210L means there was 0% ethyl alcohol detected in 210 liters of deep lung air when your son was tested on whatever breath testing instrument was used. (no alcohol detected). Second, your sons actions either during his driving or during the field sobriety testing or both indicated to the officer that your son was incapacitated to some degree and the officer felt he could not drive a vehicle safely. Your son may have admitted being under the influence of some type of narcotic. Furthermore, the officer may have obtained a search warrant and had blood drawn so as to prove his case.

There are a series of physical symptoms that someone high on drugs or alcohol give off. Properly trained officers can usually determine what kind of drug a person is high on, if they are high. The numbers you refer to talk about how many grams of a substance are in 210 liters of something else. For example--and these numbers are totally made up--a person might have 3.96 grams of a drug in 210 liters of blood. They might use 210 liters as opposed to another number as a standard for that particular test.

DUI means Driving Under the Influence. That can mean under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or a combination of both. Your son didn't have any alcohol in him, but are you sure he wasn't taken for a blood / urine test ?? I think your son may not be giving you all the facts.

Better talk to an attorney on this one. You can tell if someone is on something just by their actions, and reactions along with glassy eyes, dialiated eyes, but you dont know what they have been"using" if that be the case . You can smell alcohol. That's why blood test are run to see what is in the system. Urinalysis are done and if it shows a certain color you can tell if possible marajuana etc. YOUR BEST BET is to get with the attorney.

that means he wasn't DRUNK. But if they did a blood test, they will probably find narcotics.
An officer is trained how to recognize signs of drivers under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol.
If they suspect (from vehicle weaving, going too slow, whatever) then they can do a field sobriety test.
I think the main thing with narcotics is the eye twitches (nystagmus I think) and how the pupils react.

that test was an alcohol test, it shows 0.00g of alcohol per 210 liter of breath. which means no alcohol.
Controled substances can be tested by blood or urine.
Controled substance intoxication mimics alcohol intoxication for the most part, with some exception.

they usually can tell because your driving, speech or actions seemed impaired. I have no idea what that means but a controlled substance usually means drugs.
