depends on how well you treat it.
antibiotics, symptoms in a few days.

you could buy cranberry capsules and take a whole bunch of them along with tons of water and cranberry juice & acidophilus too.
You need to treat it immediatley! Otherwise it could go up into your kidneys and make you really sick and then its harder to treat.

It varies. It's all under your controll, however. Don't drink beverages with high sugar content. Caffine is also something that you will want to avoid. Your best bet is to drink a lot of water, and try to urinate as infrequently as possible. Frequent urination irritates the urinary tract and introduces more bacteria to the infection. If you have money, purchase some PURE cranberry juice, (be wary, it's tart!) and some cranberry pills, found at any Whole Foods store.

If treated with the correct antibiotics, 3-7 days, with the pain decreasing quite dramatically after the first 24-36 hours on the medicine. Without correct treatment, it can last much longer and progress into a kidney infection.

But that is a good question my friend because I get them all the time and I take the antibotic and it goes away and come back again. I have had them so much in my lifetime, it seems to me ever since I had children. But it isn't some thing to let go because it can cause major problem if you are in child bearing years.

If you get it treated with antibiotics you should feel it clearing up within 24 hours of started the antibiotics. You need to take all of the antibiotic prescribed though to be you get rid of all of the bacteria.
