My opinion is that if the execution was a success he is dead.

Yea

Some type of closure.

But I still feel deep down inside some Ayotollah or Imam is going to take over in IRaq, be even more Anti-Western Anti-America and the US Government will kinda wish Saddam was still in charge.

No matter how you slice it, he was a fool.

If someone who isn't a FOOL takes over, things can turn even worse.

Execution will not solve the problem and change character of the man. One who understand how karma and rebirth work would realize that the man who is ill-prepared for his death will be reborn to continue sowing his terror - his unfinished business. The only finish business is for him to be alive and realize the mistake and responsibility of his actions, turn his evil ways and sought God/Allah thereafter. That opportunity was taken away from this man. The world only achieve temporary solution by delaying the inevitable what is due to come by hanging the man with the potential to change.

Well I'm not going to shed any tears for him that's for sure. But I would have preferred that they tried him for everything he was accused of and be extra careful of giving him a fair trial in order to silence at least some of the critics saying that he was railroaded by the U.S.Oh well ! At least he's dead .I just hope that he won't be a martyr.

It is sad that he could only be executed once. I'm glad he had a trial but think it is a shame that he continued to suck up air that could have been saved for a more righteous person (since his capture).

No loss to society, as Han Solo would say. But it might have been better to keep him locked up and deny him martyrdom.

i think over 3000 dead US troops and 10s of thousands of dead Iraqi civilians is too high a price to pay to hang an ineffectual old despot.

GW is no doubt smirking with pleasure tho and that's all that matters.

anas: Well; Saddam's execution is something to be viewed in the correct perspective of: "doing it FOR him" ... not "TO him" !!!

Pagan....

It's a passing, and I hope he lives a better life next time around.
