Yes it should be legal everywhere for medicinal purposes. A dear friend of mine used it illegally to help him enjoy his final months of life. Sadly, once he wsa admitted to the hospital, he no longer was able to reap the benefits of this weed that God left growing all over the planet. Not only does it help with pain, it helps with depression, it helps one stomach other medications more easily, it helps maintain one's appetite... and these are all things that seriously sick people need. I know many people who say that pot is the only thing that helps their pain, and I personally think it's a safer addiction for them than pharmaceutical narcotics. It is a marvelous medical wonder drug, and everyone who needs it should be able to use it legally.

From my understanding, medical marijuana does not have the same effect as the street kind, you don't feel stoned etc (correct me if I'm wrong).
But in my opinion the plant must have been put on this earth for a reason, and quite possibly medicine is it. Like some of the other drugs that are used in medicine but also have a "street variety" that has been tampered with in some way. I also believe it should be on prescription only and closely monitered so not to be abused.

It's a joke in California. It's a back door to legalizing it. I'm not so oppose to legitimate use. There is clinics popping up all over California, where Doctors just write marijuana prescription. We all know that anyone can go there and just get it. There is a judge that made a discision that basically said that doctors can write a prescription for pot for any disease. They guy who talks about raid in California is exagerating. Pot clinic is out in the open in LA. FBI doesn't have to do much work to shut it down. It's a shame potheads are hiding behind the sick to get their fix. As for your illness, I don't think a legitimate doctor would prescribe pot for just chronic pain. There suppose to be other complications that would make it necessary. The odd thing is that they may prescribe more addictive drugs than pot for you like Oxycontin

I don't think marijuana is a sedative even if it is why does it relieve pain. It will make you feel better but would it really help back pain what does it do where is the science. Smoking pot is bad four your immune system smoking anything is Mariinol pills get absorbed differently people don't like it as much compared to smoking my solution is simple. Create a drug derived from marijuana that gets absorbed in the same way as smoking exactly the same maybe timed release I dont know. that would eliminate the need for smoking dangerous carcinogens and have the same effects to eliminate pain.

I do not use Marijuana, not to say I haven't but I believe it is a good for people in server pain. When my mother was in the last stage of Cancer I wish we could of given her some to use, they gave her morphine and all that did was knock her out and she wanted to be awake as long as possible, so what if she would be a little silly at times at least she wouldn't be in pain. I would vote to legalize it in a heart beat. We take enough medication in this country to stop a horse heart why not give something that helps some one deal with pain and be happy for a change;

I don't smoke often...I can probably count the times I have smoked on one hand...but I agree with medicinal marijuana. If I have cancer and the only way I can control vomitting is to smoke some herb, then I am going to get it any way I can....and I don't think I should be locked up for it. I am never going to go on a pro-weed march, but doctors prescribe much more dangerous (and addictive) drugs every day. It has proven to alleviate nausea and loss of appetite in cancer patients going through radiation treatment. What are you going to do, bust someone for that? I don't smoke weed but it can help certain people.

I don't like the term "medical" because someone may think that cures your disease and it does not.
I would change the term (pick one) and will make it legal. A very good friend of mine had cancer, and pot was the only pain killer that did not make her vomit and did not ruin her appetite. Moreover, it was a lot cheaper than her prescribed medicine.
She died after a few weeks, but with less pain.

Problem is the FEDERAL LAW! People in California who were growing it for medicinal purposes and selling it to doctors were raided by the FEDS. A shame. Who should tell a cancer treatment patient they can't smoke it to help them keep food down?? Sad it is not legal.

I would agree that more states should legalize MM but then I also think that they should legalize it anyway. I think that if it were legal people wouldn't sell or put things in it that should not be and that it would be smoked in it's natural state which would lead to less problems involving the drug.

My brother used it to control "phantom pains" - pains after the loss of a limb, to great success, for 4 yrs. The medical community here didnt support him in his ideas, and when they discovered this, insisted he use Temgesic, a class A controlled drug. He hated this drug, and the way it made him feel, subsequently suicided 4 months later. Grow your own, man - man made beer, God grew grass.
